While Daniel Day-Lewis is rightfully earning the most attention around "Lincoln" as he portrays the iconic President in Steven Spielberg's film, it's easy to forget that the picture is rounded out by a supporting cast of top-shelf actors. And now a fresh batch of new pics gives them a bit of shine.

Characterized by refreshing restraint, its passionate convictions and patience, if Steven Spielberg’s worst tendencies are his propensity for the sentimental and overwrought (as evinced recently in much of “War Horse”), his latest, “Lincoln,” thankfully possesses almost none of those unfortunate traits. However, as a two hour procedural about the ratification of an amendment in the House Of Representatives (does anything sound more appealing as a premise to you?), "Lincoln" is also not exactly the most engaging nor well-paced picture either.

Jackie Earle Haley, the actor best known in Academy circles for his comeback role in 2006's "Little Children," and in genre cliques for playing Freddie Kruger in the rebooted "Nightmare On Elm Street" series and appearing as Rorschach in "Watchmen," has just bagged a new role. The 51-year-old actor, who found success as a child in the '70s with "The Bad News Bears" series and 1979's acclaimed coming-of-age movie "Breaking Away," has joined the cast of yet another reboot: "RoboCop." Haley will portray Maddox, a man who dispenses the military training to Robocop.

The story of Jackie Earle Haley is a pretty amazing one. The actor found modest success as a child actor and continued with his career into the mid '80s with appearances on both television and the big screen before moving behind the camera for the next couple of decades as a modest producer and director of commercials. But he returned to the big screen with a vengeance with a memorable turn as a pedophile in Todd Field's "Little Children" and from there, he's seen an amazing resurgence. With stints in "Watchmen," "Shutter Island," "A Nightmare On Elm Street" and in Tim Burton's forthcoming "Dark Shadows," Haley has established himself as one of the best character actors going and he's adding another big name director and project to his impressive resume.

Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have been talking about teaming up for an adaptation of 1960s vampire soap "Dark Shadows" for years now, but for a while, it was unclear if the always-busy megastar would find room in his schedule for the film. But if "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Alice in Wonderland" taught us anything in the last few years, it's that if the pair are attached to a VFX-heavy, production design-reliant project that plays right into their comfort zones, it'll happen sooner or later. And indeed, "Dark Shadows" begins production in the U.K. this week.

The film is based on the gothic 1960s television series that centered on Barnabas Collins, a vampire (to be played by Depp) who is in search of lost love, Josette.

We nearly forgot about this one, but way back in August, Kristen Bell signed on to the indie dramedy "Dance Of The Mirlitons" and then things went a bit quiet, but now everything is gearing back up again as Chloe Moretz, Jackie Earle Haley and Bailee Madison have all signed on to the film.
