Yes, it's James Franco Project #A-9087B-X7, but we'll say this about the prolific actor/writer/director/producer -- his choices are never dull. Indeed, "Maladies" is on our list of 5 Most Anticipated Movies Of The 2013 Berlin Film Festival, and the cast, which also includes Catherine Keener and David Strathairn, is one that we'd be curious to check out in almost anything. And with subject matter such as schizophrenia and sexuality in the mix, the blend could be potent, but we have to be honest: now that the first trailer is here, we're not sure what to think.

Does anyone know what's going on in the actual Super Bowl? Because we don't. Continuing tonight's logjam of movie marketing, yet another gameday spot has dropped, this time for "Oz The Great And Powerful," Disney's great spring blockbuster hope.

Much of the mystery surrounding Sam Raimi’s upcoming “Oz The Great and Powerful” seems to have dissipated. With two trailers that pretty clearly delineated the story and provided a generous glimpse at the film’s look, all that’s left is to see the darn thing! But, with over a month to go until the theatrical release, marketing still needs to drum up some more interest, and has apparently resorted to labeling a recycled, condensed trailer as a new “first look.” The new TV spot aired during the SAG Awards, and unless we’re mistaken, there’s nothing here that we didn’t see in the second trailer.

So, in just over a month "Oz The Great And Powerful" will wave a magic wand and drop into theaters, and mostly, Disney is hoping this doesn't "John Carter" on them. But they have a few things that will likely prevent that from happening. First, it's riffing on a beloved movie that everyone has heard of. Next, it features a cast that people know, including James Franco, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and Mila Kunis. Okay, great. But then why on Earth did they airbrush the hell out of the one cast member who has been named the Sexiest Woman Alive?

So, what you have done this January? If you're James Franco, you're currently at the Sundance Film Festival dropping two films, signing on to direct and star in the biopic of hairstylist Jay Sebring in "Beautiful People," and you wrote a poem for the inauguration. Seriously. And it seems the always busy Franco has just added yet another project to his slate.

At one time, it seemed inconceivable that enfant terrible Harmony Korine would do anything close to courting the mainstream, let alone shoot a picture with folks like James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson. But after the awesomely lo-fi audience provocation "Trash Humpers," it seems kind of logical that Korine would make something to appeal to the folks who couldn't make it to the end of that movie. And so: "Spring Breakers." And get ready, because it's gonna get wet.

"The End Of The World" is coming, and no, we're not talking about the Mayan nonsense that has tinfoil hat types stocking up on batteries and water. We're talking about Seth Rogen's directorial debut (he shares the chair with longtime writing collaborator Evan Goldberg, and yes, they both penned the script), the apocalypse comedy that's now called "This Is The End." And the first red band spot is here.

Sad trombone face. James Franco, the star of "Rise Of The Planets Of The Apes" (aside from the chimpanzee Cesar of course), was all set to do a cameo in "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes." The rub is that the original director Rupert Wyatt bowed out (Matt Reeves is now directing it) and so did Tom Rothman, who is no longer at Fox and Franco hasn't heard a peep since. So the actor assumes he's out. Via MTV.

Let's face it -- until James Franco shows up, it's not a film festival, and Sundance, after announcing their inital slate yesterday, just got real. The folks in Park City have lifted the curtain on the Spotlight, New Frontier and Park City At Midnight offerings and there are a couple of curiosities worth noting.

James Franco seems to have found some new pals over at Millenium Films. He's already starring alongside Jason Statham and Winona Ryder in the action flick "Homefront" for the company, and it seems his inspiration continues to be piqued by genre fare.
