Captain America: The Winter Soldier
At one point a few years ago, Paul Greengrass was looking to make a biopic on legendary rocker Jimi Hendrix with Anthony Mackie in the lead. But when the Hendrix estate wouldn't sign off on the project, it fell apart and everyone moved on. But now, things are moving again. Mackie is back to play the axeman, with Ol Parker ("Now Is Good") at the helm of the movie "which chronicles the last nine days of Hendrix's life."

Babylon
With an Oscar, two Best Picture nominations (one of which won), national hero status thanks to the Olympics and an acclaimed stage play in his recent past, Danny Boyle can do pretty much whatever he wants these days (even with the critical and commercial failure of "Trance" coming last year—though the film's underrated, in this writer's opinion). So it's a measure of the draw and cachet of the medium that his latest endeavor comes on the small screen, helming the pilot for new U.K. comedy-drama "Babylon," which aired on Channel 4 last night ahead of a full series later in the year.

Tom Hiddleston Ben Wheatley HIgh Rise
Prolific as he is, Ben Wheatley's films to date generally haven't featured much in the way of star power, but it was only a matter of time until bigger names started circling his work. And indeed, his next effort will find Loki himself coming along for the ride.

Babylon Brit Marling James Nesbitt
Ranked in the top five of our 20 Most Anticipated TV Shows Of 2014, we could spend a long time explaining the various minor reasons why "Babylon" is one we're eagerly anticipating, but we'll just get to the point with two words: Danny Boyle. Yep, the filmmaker behind "Trainspotting," "127 Hours," "Slumdog Millionaire" and more is bringing his usually kinetic energy to the small screen, and we have to say, it looks fantastic.

The Hobbit: Desolation Of Smaug
If the “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” was a bloated 2 hour and 49 minute slog, replete with dull merriment, songs and a distended prologue that threatened to put you to sleep, then in contrast, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” is a brisk, engagingly paced 2 hours and 41 minutes which goes to show that length never matters—it’s how well your narrative engine runs.
