Damn, now this is how you raise the game for a sequel. With plans already underway to kill off Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy in order to match the tragic arc in the comics, the folks behind the second installment of "The Amazing Spider-Man" trilogy have bagged a helluva name to go toe-to-toe with Peter Parker.

Trilogy! Hollywood loves everything in threes and this week seems to be no exception. Of course, there's the announcement today of the new "Star Wars" trilogy coming for your wallet starting in 2015, and just yesterday, Quentin Tarantino revealed his upcoming "Django Unchained" might be the middle part of trilogy sandwich starting with "Inglorious Basterds." Well, until we find out if that will actually happen or will be a continual question mark like "Kill Bill 3," some new pics from "Django Unchained" have dropped.

This writer is probably one of the few who didn't care for the latest domestic trailer for "Django Unchained" when it landed a week or so ago, but after watching this brand new international trailer, that opinion could very much be turning around.

The tale of Ken Jeong is a pretty awesome one. He was working as a doctor while honing his comedy chops at stand-up clubs, and eventually moved to L.A. and started pursuing a career in showbiz full time. He worked the comedy circuit, did guest stints on a bunch of shows, eventually fell in with the Apatow gang, and came to much bigger attention after his turn as the asshole doctor in "Knocked Up." From there came "The Hangover," then "Community" and the rest, as they say, is history. Now he's stepping up into bigger and better things.

An American thriller film by Roland Emmerich, the guy who directed super-sized blockbusters like "Independence Day, " "Godzilla" and "2012" and starring Channing Tatum, "White House Down" might just be the movie of summer 2013 if you're into loud spectacle. Tatum, who has arguably had the best 2012 of any male contemporary thanks to three over-$100 million dollar grossers ("The Vow," "21 Jump Street" and "Magic Mike") stars as a United States Secret Service agent who must rescue the President of the United States (Jamie Foxx) from a paramilitary group that has taken over the White House. Let's guess, he's new and unexperienced (first day on the job?), but somehow he "Die Hard"s it and against all odds and saves the day.

It has been seven years since writer Stephen Gaghan got behind the camera and delivered "Syriana," and while he has kicked around a variety of projects since, lined up various producing and writing gigs (including doing a polish on M. Night Shymalan's upcoming "After Earth"), there hasn't been much word on a directorial outing. But now comes news of a project bubbling forth, with two heavyweight names eyeing the lead roles.

Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" made its way to the Comic-Con faithful over the weekend, and by all accounts, including our own, it blew the lid off the place. The film has seen a number of casting changes and additions as it has rolled on its production, which started late last year. But one of the of the biggest What Would Have Been bits of casting involves the lead role itself. Over a year ago, it was revealed that Will Smith was in contention for part of Django. Indeed the actor himself confirmed this last month, saying, "I came really close, it was one of the most amazing screenplays I had ever ever seen. I was in the middle of 'Men In Black 3' and [Tarantino] was ready to go, and I just couldn't sit with him and get through the issues, so I didn't want to hold him up. That thing's going to be ridiculous. It is a genius screenplay." But according to Tarantino, it was Jamie Foxx he ultimately wanted.
