The Counselor, Brad Pitt
Already dreading the end of "Breaking Bad" in six weeks or so? It looks like Ridley Scott might have something to cure what ails you. It's relatively unlikely that Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Cormac McCarthy was inspired by the popular and acclaimed series, given that he's been writing about the cross-border world of drugs and gruesome murder for some time (most famously with the source material for the Coen Brothers' "No Country For Old Men"), but it's hard to watch the new UK trailer for "The Counselor" (or, to use the UK spelling on this trailer, "The Counsellor")—an original script by McCarthy, directed by Scott—and not find echoes of Walter White & co, especially when this new clip gives a glimpse of Dean Norris, aka "Breaking Bad"'s Hank.

While Cormac McCarthy is undeniably an American literary icon, cinematic adaptations of his work haven't always fared so well. From the great ("No Country For Old Men") to the good ("The Road") to the missed opportunities ("All The Pretty Horses") to the ones no one saw ("The Sunset Limited"), the success rate has been scattered. But this fall will see two movies based on his efforts. Later this month, James Franco will unspool "Child Of God" in Venice, but for the rest of us, it will be "The Counselor" that we'll be seeing first. More importantly, it was written specifically for the screen. And a new trailer is here giving the biggest peek yet at what is one of the fall's biggest films.

One of the bigger fall films yet to find a festival home (if it choose to go that route) is Ridley Scott's star-studded, Cormac McCarthy penned "The Counselor." But the movie is coming regardless of whether or not it gets a red carpet premiere somewhere, and now two clips have arrived to give those highly anticipating the flick (like us) another unique taste of what's in store.

We've all had that dream...you know the one...where you walk around an expensive hotel, where gorgeous women strut around in nothing but lingerie.... Okay, maybe you haven't had that dream, but that's basically the entire "plot" of Penelope Cruz's directorial debut, a five minute short film for her L'Agent line of naughty clothing for Agent Provocateur.

While it might seem that TIFF has every major movie coming before the end of the year, there are a still a strong handful of films yet to be announced for any festivals, and though we expect Ridley Scott's "The Counselor" to get a splashy premiere somewhere, it currently remains a big get for someone. And with the movie hitting theaters in just over two months, there's certainly going to be plenty to see from the movie.

The Counselor, skip
Has Ridley Scott been watching Michael Bay movies? We can't remember the last time the veteran director delivered something this aesthetically slick and glossy, and it's an interesting veneer to add to what sounds like a gritty as fuck crime pic. Strap in, because the first international teaser trailer for "The Counselor" is here.

Javier Bardem was busy over the past year, taking the world by storm as Silva in the billion dollar "Skyfall," shooting Ridley Scott's "The Counselor" and of course popping up in Terrence Malick's "To The Wonder" but has since taken a bit of breather. But now he's getting back to work -- and how -- lining two projects. So let's get to it...

Okay, we got some of the jokes out of our system yesterday, so now we can return to talking about Terrence Malick's "To The Wonder" seriously, and what better way to do that than with five clips from the movie that really delve into the thematic territory the filmmaker explores with his latest.

Toldja? When Magnolia Pictures picked up Terrence Malick's "To The Wonder" last fall, we openly wondered if that meant that the filmmaker's latest effort was going to end up mostly being an option on your TV screen rather than at your local arthouse, and it worries us to say, that may be the case.

With the U.K. release date rushing foward, and Terrence Malick's reticence to do any press ever (Kanye West has got nothing on him), the marketing team behind "To The Wonder" are doing what they can. Though the movie has a couple of gorgeous trailers, recently the plan appears to bet that images from the movie will be enough to get moviegoers to buy a ticket.
