This weekend, "Skyfall" is unleashed on cinemas nationwide. Almost from the very first sequence you will realize this is a very, very James Bond movie, and although it's the third in the Daniel Craig series, "Skyfall" almost feels like a hard reboot of the entire franchise, with winking nods to the previous entries and some bold expansion in other areas. The film is also laced with both melancholy and humor, both of which were absent in the hard-driven previous two.

Christopher Nolan is, famously (like many British directors), a big fan of the James Bond franchise. He said that he approached "Batman Begins" more like a Bond flick than a superhero movie, he directly nodded to one of 007's high watermarks in "Inception," and has publicly expressed interest in, at some point, directing one of the films in the franchise.

For a man not known for being prolific, an eighteen-month gap between Terrence Malick’s “The Tree of Life” (the filmmaker’s first film in five years) and his latest, “To the Wonder” (only his sixth in forty years) isn’t just unprecedented, it’s positively mind-boggling, especially given that the director is currently shooting a pair of films, “Knight of Cups” and another untitled film starring Ryan Gosling, back to back.

As we've reported earlier, this fall's 007 romp "Skyfall" will have what can charitably be described as "a whole heaping fuckload" of complex promotional tie-ins, corporate sponsorships, and licensing arrangements. Well, we've now got our first look at one of those tie-ins – with Coke Zero. That's right – Scott Pilgrim and James Bond will soon have the same taste in diet soda. What's more – a new international banner has been unveiled, and Roger Moore proclaims Daniel Craig the best James Bond ever. Does he get a prize? A twelve-pack of Coke Zero maybe?

James Bond is fifty years old this year, though he doesn't show his age one bit, as the franchise is faster and fresher than ever. And with a new movie just a couple of months away, more and more bits and pieces from "Skyfall" are starting to arrive, making us both excited and...concerned.

Yes, Bond is back, and judging by the brand new trailer unveiled last week, it's going to be a mix of the classic elements we've come to adore from the franchise -- gadgets, guns and girls -- along with the gritty realism that has come to define the Daniel Craig era films. And with "Skyfall" set to cap off the 50th anniversary of the Bond business, the promo material for the movie keeps coming, with a few more pics emerging over the weekend.
