Jennifer Lawrence, THE HATEFUL EIGHT
Okay, so we know "The Hateful Eight" teaser trailer this weekend will amount to a series of titles, but that's only a minor distraction from the fact that Quentin Tarantino is moving full steam ahead on his western, which is already being advertised for release in 2015. Which means a cast has to be put together, and while many assume the roster of names who participated in the live read in April would be the ensemble for the movie, that might not be the case.

Not Another High School Show
The year is 2006, and five years after the release of the successful spoof film "Not Another Teen Movie," it was decided a TV spinoff of the film was a good idea. And so, Comedy Central ordered up a pilot for "Not Another High School Show," and the reason you don't remember it is because the network declined to order a full season. Now you can see why.

There's been a lot of talk about women-driven movies in recent months, and rightly so. In recent years studios have shirked from movies starring and aimed at women, turning away from weepies and rom-coms, with conventional wisdom saying that men are bigger moviegoers who won't bother with big-budget films featuring female leads. But last year, two of the three top grossing movies in the U.S, "Catching Fire" and "Frozen," had female stars, and a few weeks ago, the Scarlett Johansson-led "Lucy" made headlines by hammering the obviously testosterone-fuelled "Hercules" at the box office.

Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
We’ve seen some intriguing teaser trailers for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1” so far. One of the features a brainwashed Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and Johanna (Jena Malone) in piece of “unified” propaganda from President Snow (Donald Sutherland) that gets jacked by members of the rebellion, namely Beetee (Jeffrey Wright). This is the type of insurgency that Snow will be looking to quell with swift vengeance and does really set the stage for “MockingJay, Part 1.” The rebellion is making plans.

"[David O. Russell] recently texted me at I think 4 in the morning, and he was like, 'I think I want to make a movie about the woman who invented the [Miracle] Mop. You want to do it?' " Jennifer Lawrence explained on “Live With Kelly and Michael” in March. "I was like, 'Yeah,' " she added. "I can just imagine David looking at somebody mopping and being like, 'Yeah, that's my next screenplay.' "

X-Men: Days Of Future Past
Well, knock us down with a feather. We'd been positively fearing "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" from afar. It had a been a while since the franchise peaked, and on paper, the giant cast list seemed to promise another "X-Men: The Last Stand"-style mess at best. Plus director Bryan Singer's last film, "Jack The Giant Slayer," was by some distance the worst of his career, and early marketing materials made it look like 'DOFP' had a tiny scope that belied its budget (the second most expensive in Fox's history, after "Avatar"), and made it seem like some kind of mid-'90s vision of the future.

X-Men: Days of Future Past
The perils of time travel plotting, and maintaining continuity and story logic, within the framework of an already-fantastical superhero universe, are not enviable for any filmmaker. But credit the folks behind “X-Men: Days Of Future Past” for not only negotiating the tricky liabilities of rewriting history, but also creating a world (and story) where if the timestream logic crumbles, it ultimately matters little.

X-Men: Days of Future Past
"X-Men: Days Of Future Past" drops in just a couple of weeks, and right now, the folks at Fox are spending a lot days of future planning for the franchise. "X-Men: Apocalypse" is already on deck for 2016, and "The Wolverine 2" continues to develop, even as Hugh Jackman plays forever coy about whether or not it's the last time he sports the mutton chops and fangs. But the studio is certainly hoping to make it easier on the actor who has to diet like crazy to get mad ripped to play Logan.

X-Men Days Of Future Past
We're less than three weeks away from mutants running amok in multiplexes nationwide. As you might (or might not) have been aware, during the credits to this weekend's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," there was a brief tease for "X-Men: Days Of Future Past." It was a rare moment of rival studios helping each other out, but if you had the same feelings we did about Marc Webb's sequel, you might've bailed as soon the credit reel started. We don't blame you. So if you did miss it, or want to see it again, Fox has dropped the clip online.

X-Men Days Of Future Past
The past little while has seen a lot of talk about where the X-Men franchise is going after "X-Men: Days Of Future Past," and how it will lead into "X-Men: Apocalypse" and whatnot. And while that speculation is sorta interesting (even if the latter movie is still two year away), it might be nice to focus on 'DOFP' first. Well, Fox is doing just that, by dropping a brand-new clip from the movie today.
