Things are looking up for Jesse Eisenberg. Last week saw “The Social Network” star cast as Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s increasingly odd “Batman Vs. Superman”—or whatever it ends up being called—and this week sees one of his projects come back from the dead.

The Social Network
Remember when you could poke people on Facebook? Or how about the first time someone liked your status update? It's hard to believe, but today Facebook celebrates it's tenth birthday, with the site officially launched on February 4, 2004. And it can be easy to forget how massively Mark Zuckerberg's site reshaped the way we interact online and infiltrated pop culture, and so, here's a reminder.

While the rumor mill churned with Bryan Cranston, and other older, balder actors, it looks like Zack Snyder and co. have thrown a huge curveball to fans when it comes to Lex Luthor, the long expected villain of "Batman Vs. Superman": he's going to be much younger than you thought.

The Double
The pleasures to be found in Richard Ayoade's upcoming "The Double" go far beyond Jesse Eisenberg's dual performance that powers the movie. From the great score by Andrew Hewitt, to the production design from David Crank, every inch of the "Submarine" director's film has been carefully considered and thought through. That it all comes together as a near flawless steampunk comedy/romance/thriller is the icing on the cake.

David Foster Wallace Jesse Eisenberg Jason Segel James Ponsoldt
Of his upcoming biopic, “Hillary,” James Ponsoldt recently told us it “has nothing to do with celebrity of the character…that story is not a cradle-to-the-grave biopic, it’s sort of looking into a keyhole of a very specific period of her life." The “Spectacular Now” director is currently selecting the right young Hillary Clinton to match those points, but in the meantime Ponsoldt has emerged with another surprising biopic with a fixed-timeframe, and it already has quite the intriguing cast assembled.

The Double, Jesse Eisenberg, Mia Wasikoswka
Of all the films coming out in 2014 we've already seen, it's safe to say Richard Ayoade's "The Double" is near the top of our list. Starring Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska, the film is a dark, Kafka-esque story centered on a man who is driven insane by the appearance of his doppelgänger.

Jesse Eisenberg & Kristen Stewart Adventureland
It seems like an eon ago but circa 2009, Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart were at very different points in their career. The former had yet to find a role as notable as his turn in 2005's "The Squid And The Whale" while the latter had already banked one "Twilight" movie but was still eager to flex her acting chops. They both came together for Greg Mottola's nostalgic, likeable, coming-of-age movie "Adventureland", which promptly helped them step up into bigger gigs. But now Eisenberg and Stewart's stars are aligning again, for something just a little big different.

One our our favorite films out TIFF last month, and a bold sophomore feature effort from "Submarine" director Richard Ayoade, trying to describe "The Double" is a bit difficult. But if the idea of a steampunk, "Brazil"-esque black comedy based on the novella by Fyodor Dostoevsky sounds even remotely intriguing, than this film will more than deliver.

Night Moves, Kelly Reichardt
Director Kelly Reichardt (“Wendy and Lucy,” “Meek’s Cutoff’) has an eye for vast American landscapes, in which she deliberately places lonesome, trudging souls who are continuously searching—for connections, for new lives, for meaning.

The Double, Richard Ayoade
At the world premiere of “The Double,” British director Richard Ayoade’s second film, Toronto International Film Festival Artistic Director Cameron Bailey called Ayoade “one of the sharpest wits” in filmmaking, and the audience reacted with unbridled glee. New directors are rarely so well known, but Ayoade is also a comedic actor—most notably as “Moss” in the TV series “The IT Crowd”—who made his directorial debut three years ago at Toronto with the cult favorite (and critically admired) “Submarine,” a coming-of-age tale about an eccentric outsider.
