Last summer, cinephiles got a bit of a surprise when Ingmar Bergman's muse Liv Ullmann revealed that she was preparing to shoot her next directorial project, "Miss Julie," this year in Ireland, and that Michelle Williams was reportedly attached. The movie is an adaptation of August Strindberg's classic Swedish play, a controversial work exploring power, sexuality, class, identity, love and gender set in 1874, and Ullmann said she'd "use Irish actors as servants and British as the masters of the house." But could she be gaining another excellent actress to her class?

It has been a very good week for "Zero Dark Thirty." The film has now pushed itself to the front of the Oscar conversation by taking three prizes from the New York Film Critics Circle on Monday and another three from the National Board Of Review today, with director Kathryn Bigelow and actress Jessica Chastain looking like the ones to beat (at the moment). Awards season continues on apace, and if things keep on the way things have been going this week, Kathryn Bigelow may need to enlarge her trophy cabinet. Her follow-up to the awards-laden "The Hurt Locker," Bin Laden-hunt picture "Zero Dark Thirty" hasn't even opened in theaters yet, but it already won the Best Film (along with Director and Cinematography) prize from the New York Film Critics' Circle on Monday, and now the National Board of Review (the somewhat nebulous organization who traditionally kicked off awards season, before the NYFCC moved their dates up last year) have followed suit.

In the opening moments of the thriller-cum-action drama "Zero Dark Thirty," the picture displays text onscreen that reads, “based on firsthand accounts of actual events.” “I don’t want to play fast and loose with history,” Mark Boal, the screenwriter of the film, told the New York Times  about his in-depth research into the movie's story: the Seal Team Six hunt and elimination of Osama Bin Laden.
