It’s been quite some time since we last saw Harry and Lloyd. Yes, there was that abysmal “Dumb and Dumberer” prequel and there was even a Saturday morning cartoon series which was terrible in its own way, but forgivable from a nostalgic point of view. As far as we were concerned the real Harold and Lloyd were where we last left them at the end of “Dumb and Dumber,” wandering the desert in search of fame and fortune. However, thanks to Universal Pictures, a proper sequel to the comedy classic is finally on the horizon.

What once were grand plans for a summer 2013 are now gone. Despite talking about it a lot, particularly on their press run for "The Stooges," it looks like Warner Bros. has finally yanked the lifeline that was keeping the thin hopes of a sequel to "Dumb & Dumber" alive. But perhaps this isn't really a surprise?

Believe it or not, but James Franco doesn't always do everything he winds up committed to, and a couple years back you might recall he signed up star in "Ricky Stanicky." He had just wrapped "127 Hours," but even so, the movie seemed a long way off and it seems it wound up stalling, even though the script placed on the 2010 Black List. But alas, it has come back to life with a slightly surprising new star.

Jim Carrey's in a funny old place in his career. Once the biggest comedy star on the planet, the first person to command $20 million for a single movie, and also able to move into respectable indie fare like "Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind," it's been a while since Carrey had a real hit. He's smartly choosing to take some smaller supporting roles as a result, but the first result of that experiment, "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone," didn't fare very well, and the second, "Kick Ass 2," isn't looking much better.

Last week we rolled out some of our interview with Steve Carell, the star of this weekend's upcoming magician comedy, "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone." Carell spoke to us about getting the band back together for "Anchorman 2" and his somewhat surprising dramatic turn as an eccentric millionaire schizophrenic for Bennett Miller's dark drama "Foxcatcher" coming later this year.

Lo-fi, featuring stars that weren't household names and stamped with an R-rating, "Kick-Ass" gleefully twisted the superhero genre on its head to the tune of $96 million worldwide. Given all the factors above, that's quite a feat and, no doubt boosted by home video exposure, a sequel was greenlit. But can lightning strike twice? Will director Jeff Wadlow be an adequate stand-in for Matthew Vaughn? Well, see for yourself as the first trailer for "Kick-Ass 2" has arrived.

Steve Carell and Olivia Wilde in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
There are some movies that seem hopelessly outdated, either because of their subject matter or filmmaking style (or both), and they're usually marked by having the unfortunate luck of cashing in on some zeitgeist-capturing craze or cultural moment slightly past its expiration date. But "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone," a new "comedy" that stars Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi and Jim Carrey as bickering magicians, feels completely unmoored from societal trends and things that people are generally interested in. It seems to be trying to send up the Las Vegas showmen of the '60s and '70s while simultaneously trying to satirize the David Blaine and Criss Angel-style illusionists of the world, whose own mini-moment passed eons ago.

On paper, “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” sounds like a no-brainer. A magician send-up starring Steve Carell, Jim Carrey and Steve Buscemi? Where do I sign up, right? But when the first trailer for the movie dropped last December, it left a lot to be desired. Now, with its release date two weeks away, Warner Bros has premiered 10 new clips online, giving us more of a taste of what to expect from the magician comedy.

Latino Review continues their run of comic movie rumorin'. Today's rumor du jour involves the good folks at that site revealing that producers of 2015's planned "Justice League" movie have nailed down a cast of characters for the film, and are limiting the famously huge roster to five core members. We always knew Superman and Batman would be a part of the group, having their own separate franchises with this year's "Man Of Steel" and a possibly forthcoming "The Batman" on it's way. But who would join them?

It seemed like it was talked about forever and destined never to be made, but that all changed last year, and now we’re mere months away from “Kick-Ass 2” hitting theaters. Aaron Taylor-Johnson returns as the eponymous not-so-super superhero, as well as Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (whose Red Mist has upgraded to become The Mother Fucker). Matthew Vaughn has been replaced in the director’s chair by “Never Back Down” helmer Jeff Wadlow, while the latest additions to the cast include Donald Faison, Lindy Booth, John Leguizamo and newcomer Olga Kurkulina as the indomitable Mother Russia.
