After Sony failed to make good on its promise that the “21 Jump Street” sequel would shoot last fall, we were disappointed, but never truly doubted that we would be seeing a second film. You don’t just leave critically acclaimed and commercially successful stuff like that alone nowadays. Anyway, it looks like our faith has been justified, and a sequel is still in the works.

"The End Of The World" is coming, and no, we're not talking about the Mayan nonsense that has tinfoil hat types stocking up on batteries and water. We're talking about Seth Rogen's directorial debut (he shares the chair with longtime writing collaborator Evan Goldberg, and yes, they both penned the script), the apocalypse comedy that's now called "This Is The End." And the first red band spot is here.

Review: ‘The Watch’ Is A Lifeless Sci-Fi Comedy With Moments Of Spirited Improv

From the outside, 20th Century Fox's comedy "The Watch" seems to have its cup runneth over with the talent at its disposal. The film stars the quartet of Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and celebrated British director/writer/comedian Richard Ayoade (director of “Submarine”). It's directed by Akiva Schaffer, the talented young filmmaker behind SNL's Digital Shorts -- arguably the only thing keeping the show relevant for the last five years -- and the screenwriters are "Superbad" and "Pineapple Express" scribes Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. And with appearances by Will Forte, Billy Crudup, a quick Lonely Island group cameo and more, everything seems to be stacked in this comedy’s favor. But try as they might, this collective wattage of talented funny people are lost within a lifeless, tepid and uninspired comedy.

Ben Stiller is sort of the comedy version of Brad Pitt, in the sense that if he enjoys the experience of working with someone on one project, chances are he'll do it again. And he seems to have found that in Jonah Hill. The actor first popped up in a little cameo in "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian," and they both had voice roles in "Megamind" (so did Pitt, for what it's worth) but it's next week's "The Watch" that sees them finally sharing considerable screen time. And it looks like Stiller had a blast and wants to do it again.

Devotees at San Diego Comic-Con 2012 were in for a rude awakening on Saturday morning. Despite fans camping out at 7 a.m. for an 11:30 a.m. Hall H presentation for Quentin Tarantino's upcoming slavery-drama-cum-revenge-thriller "Django Unchained," the lines for the panel were unprecedented and several thousand fans who thought they were early, were left out of luck.

It was just yesterday that we were wondering when 20th Century Fox was going to get the marketing ball rolling on "The Watch," the comedy starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade. The tragic killing of Trayvon Martin made selling a movie about a rogue neighborhood watch crew a bit difficult for the studio, but this healthy, lengthy international trailer for the movie shows they could have a comic hit on their hands.

Last fall, while on the press rounds for his Oscar-nominated turn in "Moneyball," Jonah Hill lamented one role that got away from him, a part in Quentin Tarantino's then brewing "Django Unchained." "I got offered the new Quentin Tarantino movie, and I can't do it because of my schedule," he said at the time. "Doing Quentin's movie would have obviously been amazing, but my schedule didn't work out, which sucks." Well, it looks like good fortune is shining on Hill as he's back in.

You want to know how far the branches of the Judd Apatow tree go? Just look at the cast of "The End Of The World." Not only does it feature pretty much the regular Apatow players including Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Jay Baruchel and Jason Segel, it also features friends and celebs like Michael Cera, Aziz Ansari, Emma Watson and Rihanna. In short, anybody even vaguely related to Apatow's circle will probably pop up as the movie continues rolling, and speaking of which, the first set pics have landed.

There are two sides to Jonah Hill. The guy who will make jokes about getting to second base with an old man in "The Watch" trailer, and the actor who has been emerging as a major dramatic talent across films like "Cyrus" and, of course, his Oscar-nominated turned "Moneyball." Now he's graduating to the big time.
