Star Also Turned Down A Role In Nicolas Winding Refn's 'Only God Forgives,' But Wants To Be In 'Logan's Run'Now that Terrence Malick has evolved into a workhorse, much to the pleasure of every cinemaniac, if there's another guy we'd like to see working more frequently, it would be Albert Brooks. He by no means has a small body of work, but for 40+ years in the business, there are surprisingly few credits to his name. Despite this, however, he has managed to craft several memorable movies and characters: his Oscar-nominated turn in James L. Brooks's "Broadcast News" was unquestionably affecting, he was a perfect ingredient in the moving Pixar flick "Finding Nemo," and as a director he never made anything less-than-enjoyable (in fact, "Real Life," "Modern Romance," and "Lost in America" are pretty incredible).

Any of you moms or dads need a night off? The AV Club tipped us to a number for a new babysitter. We've called five times now and he won't pick up, but here are the deets if you're interested: "Hi this is Noah Griffith, if you're calling about the babysitting job let me just say: I will toke up in your house, I've been known to shoplift when I've had too much to drink, I DON'T play games, unless you've got a safe word, you hear me lady, I will not clean up after myself, I will not even report on the whereabouts of your children, I will not say no in the face of danger, and I charge $18 an hour, if this sounds good, leave your information and i will probably get back to you."

America's greatest pastime hasn't been in great shape lately. Plagued by drug scandals and general disenchantment with the sport that pays astronomical prices for out-of-shape guys to hit a ball four hundred feet or so, it seems the magic of the ol' ballgame seems to have dissipated. This writer once religiously followed the sport, could rattle off batting lineups, bullpen rosters and second string second basemen at a moment's notice. But of late, we haven't had much reason to pay attention other than casually stopping in on games while flipping through channels. And while "Moneyball" won't get us picking up the daily sports section again, Bennett Miller's enjoyable and rousing film is a tribute to that the game's journeymen. The guys who aren't mega-watt stars, but who hustle day in and day out for years, all for the love of the game.

While John Landis hasn't made anything worth talking about since "Coming To America," his son Max Landis is carrying the family name. The up-and-coming scribe penned the forthcoming superhero flick "Chronicle"; he's got “Amnesty” a mysterious project described as a cross between J.R.R. Tolkien and Robert Ludlum with Ron Howard attached and he's penning one of the many Frankenstein pics knocking around Hollywood looking to get made. Now another Max Landis project is attracting some heavyweight talent.

We can't be the only ones who feel like Ellie Kemper is going to be a giant movie star. The 31-year-old actress, a graduate of Princeton, Upright Citizen's Brigade, The Onion and McSweeney's, has been one of the shining lights of "The Office" since her introduction as touched-in-the-head receptionist Erin a couple of seasons back, and after supporting roles in "Mystery Team," "Get Him To The Greek" and Sofia Coppola's "Somewhere," she broke-out on the big-screen in a major way this summer in the mega-hit "Bridesmaids."

If you didn't see last year's "Cyrus" directed by Jay and Mark Duplass and starring Jonah Hill, do yourself a favor and catch up with it. Darkly funny and surprisingly moving it was a big leap forward for actor and directors alike and the trio are hoping to catch fire once again.
