Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

But to get there, the awkwardly titled "Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" will need to make some major waves, and the first trailer is here to entice with more pulpy adventures.

Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
Yep, "Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" is the absurd mouthful that is the new title for "Sin City: Dame To Kill For," reminding you just who exactly penned the pulpy tales that will continue in Robert Rodriguez's sequel. Originally slated to drop last year, the ever-busy director pushed things back to give himself more breathing room to get it done, but with the movie coming this summer we're about to see a lot more.

Actress Lily Collins spent much of last year stuck in franchise panic, as planned heavyweight “The Mortal Instruments” weathered delays and production halts following the first installment’s poor critical and box office reception. Her long-term duty to Cassandra Clare’s series remains uncertain, but for now she’s signed on to another adaptation: “How To Be Single," based on Liz Tuccillo’s novel, written for the screen by Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, and produced by Drew Barrymore.

Jonathan Levine Seth Rogen Joseph Gordon-Levitt 50/50
If one thing has marked the majority of Jonathan Levine's films to date, it's been a desire to blend genres. From the stoner comedy/coming-of-age tale "The Wackness," to the zombie rom-com "Warm Bodies," the cancer drama/buddy laffer "50/50," Levine doesn't like to take the path already traveled. And he's reteaming with the stars from the latter film to take on the holiday season.

Elle Fanning First Stars I See Tonight
Back in March of that far-off year, 2013, we reported on the next stage of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's ongoing collaborative media community project thingummy, HitRECord (which also acted as the production comedy for Gordon-Levitt's “Don Jon”). He was planning on drawing on the site's highly active community of writers, photographers, animators, musicians, knowledge-havers and JGL-fans to put out a kind of hyper-modern variety show, “HitRECord on TV!” Now, two weeks in advance of its TV debut on Pivot, the show has been posted online by Gordon-Levitt for your perusing joy.

Sandman Joseph Gordon-Levitt
While certainly not without its problems, “Don Jon” proved a major effort from its director and star Joseph Gordon-Levitt this year, first gaining acclaim at Sundance before making its way to theatres in September. His directing skills were the main takeaway from the experience though, and they haven’t gone unnoticed: news comes today that Levitt may be attached to a considerable leap in material for his sophomore feature, and also that he’s to lead the U.S. cast in the final film from the master of Japanese animation.

Best of 2013: The Breakout Directors Of The Year
Every year, film buffs get themselves in a lather over the latest from their favorite experienced directors. The calendar is marked for the next Spielberg, I’ll be there opening day for Scorsese’s latest, I am all about Spike Lee, etc. But the real pleasure in being a film fan is stumbling upon the undiscovered, lifting a rock and uncovering a new talent, a new voice, with a brand new vocabulary for us to learn. The Scorsese films will be there for us to discover and rediscover whenever we want. In 2013, however, there was only one Shaka King picture, there was only one Lake Bell joint.

As always, this kind of stuff is filled with "maybes," "probablys" and "perhaps one day" — that's the way rumors go. But it's also tantalizing enough that one can't really ignore it, though as always, take this info with a big grain of salt.
