It's looked for a long while that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was going to have a very good year in 2012. After major roles in hits "(500) Days Of Summer" and "Inception," and an acclaimed turn last year in "50/50," the actor has a number of major parts lined up for the coming months. He's leading actioner "Premium Rush," he's got a key, still-top-secret part in "The Dark Knight Rises," he's reunited with Rian Johnson for sci-fi "Looper," and he'll crop up among the ensemble cast of Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln." All that, and he's got his collaborative wet project hitRECord, and he's looking to get underway on his directorial debut, "Don Jon's Addiction," with Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore, very shortly.

In February it was revealed that renaissance man, HitRecord honcho himself, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was mounting his first feature-length directorial effort. A comedy starring actor and Scarlett Johansson, to anyone who's ever paid even a modicum of attention to Gordon-Levitt's HitRecord operation -- a open-collaboration production company/burgeoning multi-media mini-empire of short films, music, media of all trades -- the actor turning feature-length filmmaker is no real surprise.

Some will say he looks beefed-up, but the fact of the matter is Joseph Gordon-Levitt is under quite a bit of practical prosthetics to make him look more like Bruce Willis. Wait, what? Well, backing up a second, this is your first look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Rian Johnson's ("Brick," "The Brothers Bloom") much-anticipated sci-fi film, "Looper." In the high-concept picture that plays around with screwy time-travel conceits, Gordon-Levitt plays a hitman from the future who works for the mob and recognizes one of his targets as his future self.

There are certainly some pretty horrible film titles that get churned out on a regular basis, and while they probably mean little in the grand scheme of things, naming a movie is still something Hollywood takes very seriously. On that note, it looks like a trio of highly anticipated films have had their titles put under the microscope recently, with two now set for changes and one gaining its first name.

“I wrote myself a helluva role, one that people wouldn’t necessarily thought of me for,” Joseph Gordon-Levitt told Deadline. And we gotta say, he's kinda right on this one.

If anything, Rian Johnson is no stranger to ambition. For his debut feature he put hard boiled noir dialogue in the mouths of teenagers in "Brick" and he followed that up with the Euro-flavored heist tale, "The Brothers Bloom." And in 2012, the director returns with "Looper" a time traveling sci-fi tale that, as usual, is so much more than the premise indicates.

Sorry 99%, Christopher Nolan Won't Be Shooting In Zuccotti ParkSo "The Dark Knight Rises" production hit New York City this week and as usual, everyone with a camera is taking pictures of whatever they can, and while we haven't kept up with the minutia of set photos this seems to be something fresh. Or not. But anyway, when Joseph Gordon-Levitt was first cast in the film it was said that he was playing a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty by Commissioner Gordon. Many assumed this was a ruse and that he was secretly playing someone much more important, but as these pics bear out...well, he's a beat cop. And it looks like he's assigned to protecting Bruce Wayne. MAYBE HE'LL BECOME ROBIN! Or maybe he's secretly the Joker's brother. Or maybe he's just a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty by Commissioner Gordon. We'll find out eventually.

Well, here's a pretty easy case of connect-the-dots. We just finished reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt's "Premium Rush" had been moved from January 13, 2012 to August 24, 2012 and we figured maybe it was a tactic by Sony to get the film some additional heat after the actor's turn next summer in "The Dark Knight Rises." However, with Variety reporting that JGL is now in talks for a role in Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" they add, "he'll have to sort out several scheduling issues that could prevent him from participating." You see where we're going with this?

Filmmaker Describes Why They Dropped The Original Title, 'I'm With Cancer' & How They Survived Losing Their Lead Actor 2 Weeks Before ShootingOur conversation with director Jonathan Levine first ran during the "50/50" world premiere at the recent Toronto International Film Festival, but we're worried it got lost in that crazy shuffle. With the film in theaters this weekend -- on 2,400 screens no less -- we thought we'd revisit the chat one more time.

'The Killing' Star Joel Kinnaman, Michael Fassbender & Ewan McGregor Among Names Being Considered By The DirectorSteven Soderbergh's latest picture "Contagion" is in its second week of release with a healthy tally thus far of over $45 million, and his next feature, the independent male stripper film "Magic Mike," is currently shooting.
