As Promised, Keira Knightley, Jude Law & Aaron Johnson To StarWell, Joe Wright and Focus Features have locked down the cast for their lavish adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's classic novel "Anna Karenina," and it seems like a full house of talent – in addition to the already confirmed Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Johnson, Matthew Mcfadyen ("Pride & Prejudice") and Olivia Williams, the film has added Domhnall Gleeson ("Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"), Alicia Vikander ("The Seventh Son"), Emily Watson, and Ruth Wilson (BBC series "Luther").

Disaster -- an eternally popular obsession of film. Audiences have turned up in droves over the last century or so to watch mankind against their own extinction in the form of meteorites, earthquakes, alien invasions, exploding suns, planetary collisions, and whatever it was that was happening in "The Core." One of the more popular hypotheses is that when the end comes -- and it will -- it'll be not with a bang, but with a whimper. And that's what Steven Soderbergh has examined in "Contagion," his first studio film since 2007's "Ocean's Thirteen," that finds the spread of a deadly bird flu-type virus the source of man's demise.

When you have big names like Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne, plus acclaimed figures like Emmy-winner Bryan Cranston and Oscar-nominee John Hawkes in your film, most studios would plaster their faces all over the one-sheet. Warner Bros has, as yet, not taken that approach with "Contagion" (though we're sure its coming), the latest film from Steven Soderbergh, a dark, realistic look at the global spread of a bird-flu-like virus.

We'll be the first to admit we pegged "Sherlock Holmes" all wrong. While it looked rather disastrous in its marketing, what with those 7/11 taquitos tie-ins and what not, it seemed like some kind of Disney-fied disaster gone wrong; a tepid version of "Pirates Of The Caribbean 2" set in the world of the famous English detective. But cut to December 2009 and Guy Ritchie's dazzling direction, Hans Zimmer's killer score and Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law's unexpected chemistry proved us totally wrong. We were happy to eat crow and this was exactly what we're hoping from a tentpole: something thrilling, engaging and, okay, maybe smart would be too much, but the film didn't insult our intelligence and these days that's a plus; "Sherlock Holmes" was a total winner.
