Jeff Bridges was lured into the YA genre this year, but “The Big Lebowski” actor hasn’t had much luck so far. He played a big supporting role in summer’s YA film “The Giver,” but the movie was mostly met with indifference from audiences. Up next for Bridges is the adaptation of the YA fantasy sci-fi series "The Spook's Apprentice,” retitled “Seventh Son” for the screen.

Maps To The Stars
Robert Pattinson has the "Twilight" franchise to thank for his career, but the actor is bracingly honest as to whether his fanbase from those films will support him going forward. “They won’t go [see his post-Twilight films]. I’ve said that from the beginning," he recently told Esquire UK.

Maps To The Stars
Even though the Cannes Film Festival described David Cronenberg’s “Maps To The Stars” as a satire of Hollywood a la Robert Altman’s “The Player,” the filmmaker has a less ironic view of the material. “This is not a satire, I’m really just observing,” Cronenberg told Total Film recently. “I feel like a scientist or a researcher. That's the most honest, neutral way of looking at things. I'm not angry at Hollywood. I don't have a statement to make about Hollywood."

Maps To The Stars
When you’re a director like David Cronenberg at the Cannes Film Festival, and you're movie stars actors such as John Cusack, Julianne Moore, Robert Pattinson, and Mia Wasikowska, it’s only natural to have a lot of attention get thrown your way. At the press conference for Cronenberg’s latest film “Maps to the Stars,” a movie that’s about the fear, desperation, and greed that runs rampant in Hollywood, the cast receives the same type of attention that the movie’s central characters are so desperate to obtain.

Maps To The Stars
Real talk: it's been quite a while since David Cronenberg made something truly satisfying. "Cosmopolis" has a few defenders, "A Dangerous Method" not so much, and while there's stuff to like in "Spider," "A History Of Violence" and "Eastern Promises," all felt compromised to some degree or other. Indeed, the truly unfiltered Cronenberg picture, one where bits fall off people or people try to have sex with orifices not traditionally used for any sexual act, seems like something of a distant memory at this point.

Maps To The Stars
Yes, Cannes is next week and there are a lot of films playing, but it seems there are only two movies playing: "The Rover" and "Maps To The Stars." It seems every day comes another peek at one of those films, and today is no different, with David Cronenberg's film getting yet another trailer.

Maps To The Stars
Robert Pattinson must be feeling pretty damn good one week before the Cannes Film Festival. He's rolling into the south of France with two highly anticipated films to promote—David Michôd's "The Rover" and David Cronenberg's "Maps To The Stars." You can bet there will be lots from both movies over the next seven days, but it's the latter that's showing off its stuff first.
