We've talked about Elgin James' colorful past on numerous occasions but we're now finally on the brink of seeing what he can offer with his debut film "Little Birds." Born out of the Sundance Labs, the film premiered to a warm reception at Park City last year but -- possibly due to a recent incarceration -- won't see a theatrical release until this summer.

Right now, it's still unclear if the fairy tale movie is really going to end up being a potent force. While "Once Upon A Time" and "Grimm" have found fans on the small screen, in the cinema, "Alice in Wonderland" aside (and that's a film that's only really a fairy tale by the loosest definition of the word), none of the live-action reboots of classic folklore material, from "Red Riding Hood" to "Mirror Mirror," have gotten much traction with audiences. That could (and we suspect will) change in a couple of weeks when "Snow White And The Huntsman" opens, but the uncertainty hasn't stopped studios moving forward with a myriad of fairy tale projects: everything from "Beauty & The Beast" to "Cinderella" is in various stages of development.

Man, it's been way too long since word of a new Nic Cage movie. But rest assured, he's bringing his trunk full of crazy wigs to a brand new film, and it sounds as improbable as everything else he's done recently.

While we're not even halfway through the cinematic year, we can pretty much guarantee that few movies will have a finale as brazen, bizarre, absurd and thrilling as William Friedkin's black as coal comedy/thriller "Killer Joe." But then again, there are few movies out there like it. Stamped with an NC-17 rating by the MPAA (likely due to that climatic scene), LD Entertainment is bravely soldiering on with a theatrical release (good for them) and the trailer has now arrived.

Tribeca Review: 'Jack And Diane' An Unsatisfying & Empty Relationship Movie

Though the descriptor "werewolf-lesbian-psycho-drama" piqued immense interest when word first got out, Bradley Rust Gray's "Jack And Diane" doesn't follow through on its weirdo/intriguing premise. Little work is done from the get-go to make the emotional connection between the titular characters feel believable (a huge error considering the movie's core is based around this relationship), and without that rational groundwork, the film feels forced and hollow for most of its duration.

Rising actress Juno Temple has made quite a name for herself recently, playing layered, twisted roles in both William Friedkin's “Killer Joe” and Gregg Araki's much-underrated “Kaboom,” and it looks like she will continue the trend as she joins Tony Aloupis' feature directorial debut, “Truck Stop,” alongside Evan Peters of “American Horror Story” fame.

If you were paying attention a couple of hours ago, you'll know that the Tribeca Film Festival has announced its preliminary slate beyond the opening night film, "The Five-Year Engagement." And it's a pretty good one so far, with highlights including "Jack And Diane," Bradley Rust Gray's long-awaited follow-up to the 2009's "The Exploding Girl," the Mexico-set drama "The Girl," starring Abbie Cornish, and much more.

There were always going to be knock-on effects from the staggering success of "The King's Speech," and already we've seen Madonna's hamfisted attempt take on some of the same events in "W.E," while stammering Bertie and his Queen Elizabeth will be back on screens later this year, played by Sam West and Olivia Colman, opposite Bill Murray's President Roosevelt in "Hyde Park On Hudson." But there's one other film set around the same kind of time period on the way, a project that's just found a princess.

Juno Temple has been on the verge of breaking out for quite a while. This year’s “Dirty Girl” should have been a big moment for her, but it didn’t get much of a release by the Weinstein Company. But not to worry, as Christopher Nolan is going to shine a spotlight on her in next summer’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” This winter, though, Temple will be filming “Lovelace,” the biopic of the infamous porn star, playing the best friend of Linda Lovelace, a role earmarked for Amanda Seyfried. “American Beauty” actor Wes Bentley has also joined the film, and will take on the role of Linda’s second husband, Larry Marchiano.
