Despite the festering wound that was “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” the film’s two leads haven’t taken much of a hit as both have landed some big roles.

So Keanu Reeves has made a directorial debut that on paper, certainly sounds intriguing. Lots of action has been promised, Tiger Hu Chen (one of the stuntmen on "The Matrix" films) and Iko Uwais of "The Raid" are among the folks throwing fists and feet in the flick, and Reeves seems to certainly have been pushing himself. And now the first teaser trailer and...well...

Keanu Reeves, Jon Spaights, Passengers
Long before he docked onto the project that would become "Prometheus," screenwriter Jon Spaihts made waves with his 2007 Black List script "Passengers." It was all thanks to Keanu Reeves, who had read Spaihts' script "Shadow 19," and then hired him to pen what became "Passengers." He loved the material so much he agreed to star and produce, and back in 2010, Gabriele Muccino ("The Pursuit of Happyness," "Seven Pounds") signed on to direct...and nothing happened... Well, not entirely. "Passengers" got Spaihts the attention of Ridley Scott and the rest is history, but now his breakthrough script is coming back to life.

Having been low-key for quite a while, there is finally some news on one of the two forthcoming movies featuring Keanu Reeves, about which little has been seen thus far. We'll have to wait to see whatever the much-delayed samurai epic "47 Ronin" turns out to be, but it seems the actor's directorial debut is getting ready to seeing the light of day.

Plucked from Italian cinema waters by Will Smith to direct 2008's father-son drama, “The Pursuit of Happyness,” director Gabriele Muccino seemed to revel in the Capra-esque themes of that film. Since then, Muccino has honed in on a heightened level of melodrama, one that proved more critically divisive in his follow-up with Smith, “Seven Pounds,” but recently the director proclaimed a change of pace -- both in genre and leading man -- for a future studio effort.

As filmmakers, financiers and studios continue to work together to bring movies to the multiplex, one of the more interesting discussions taking place that affects everything from budgets and scheduling to artistic approach and visual aesthetic is the decision whether or not to shoot digitally or on film. And getting right into the debate is Keanu Reeves, with his documentary "Side By Side."

We always sort of figured "Bill & Ted's 3" would be like "Ghostbusters 3," something people like to talk about but that would never actually happen. And while Dan Aykroyd keeps dreaming about his movie coming together, fans of the Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter franchise got a surprise boost of good news last week when it was revealed that Dean Parisot ("Galaxy Quest," "Red 2") was now attached to direct. And more word on the project today as a few more details have dropped about what the story may entail.

"Ghostbusters 3" might be endlessly rattling around development hell (and with Bill Murray definitely not involved, really, who cares?), but another long-belated sequel to a 1980s comedy/sci-fi classic seems to be having a lot more luck. More than once in the twenty years since the characters were last screen, there's been talk of a third "Bill & Ted" movie, another entry in the franchise following the two titular less-than-bright Californians, as played by Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, who've traveled through time in "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" and fought off Death and met God in "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey". But it's one of those projects that, honestly, we never really thought we'd see come to pass.

Keanu Reeves has emerged as something of a tech nut. He recently used his extensive Rolodex to get an amazing array of filmmakers on camera to talk analog vs. digital in his very well-received documentary "Side By Side" (read our review here) and now it seems he's looking to change the game a bit on his directorial debut, "Man Of Tai Chi." In case you forget, lensing has already begun on the martial arts flick, in which he will star alongside Tiger Hu Chen, one of the stuntmen on "The Matrix" films, in the English- and Mandarin-language movie that Reeves has been promising will deliver high caliber action. And he's hoping to showcase the hand-to-hand combat in a wholly different way.
