There's no doubt the "Bridesmaids" comparisons will be thrown around for this one, and certainly the success of that film likely helped this one get in front of cameras last summer, but there are some slight variations in "Bachelorette." While in Paul Feig's film the bachelorette party ultimately gets canceled, here it's the centerpiece of the entire movie. Moreover, "Bachelorette" looks like it could be substantially fun, and the cast is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

After a wait of somewhere between 55 and 25 years, the film version of Jack Kerouac's seminal "On The Road" finally unspooled at the Cannes Film Festival this morning. And the word was... ok. Few were outright raving, few were outright ranting, with most reviews, like our own, falling somewhere in the middle, finding a lot to like, but also finding the film a little dull in places, and perhaps too close to its source material. It's sure to do the festival circuit around the world in the coming months, so it'll be a little while before you can make up your own mind about the picture.

Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" has been heralded for decades: an important novel, a cultural signifier, a sociological landmark, a cracking good read. It's also been considered "unfilmable" -- but now Walter Salles ("The Motorcycle Diaries," "Dark Water") brings the novel to the screen, and "The Motorcycle Diaries" turns out to be a pretty good template for understanding how Salles has shot his adaptation. "On the Road," like 'Diaries,' is scenic and episodic, full of youth's passion but with a shade of the future yet to come dimming the brightness of its vision, as a charismatic young man travels with another young man, saying little but watching everything along the way.

It feels like we've been tracking Walter Salles' adaptation of Jack Kerouac's seminal Beat Generation work, "On The Road," for years now, but come this Wednesday we'll finally have word on how the Brazilian director has fared with the cult favorite. Everything we've seen so far has been highly promising, a notion personified by the young but talented cast led by the duo of Sam Riley and Garrett Hedlund.

Cannes is officially underway, which means we're now less than a week from the arrival of one of the most long-awaited films in the history of the medium: the adaptation of Jack Kerouac's "On The Road." Francis Ford Coppola wanted to direct a version of the book for decades, but having presumably decided he'd rather faff around with Val Kilmer and an iPad, passed it over to "The Motorcylce Diaries"'' Walter Salles. And from everything we've seen so far, it looks like Salles might have pulled it off, or at least come close.

Well, we got the trailer for "On the Road" about a month ago, and since then a handful of character posters for Viggo Mortensen, Tom Sturridge, Amy Adams, Alice Braga and Elisabeth Moss, so how about a few more looks at the actual movie?

After Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale was spotted on the set of Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring," likely playing a club-promoter cohort of the titular group of teens, set photos today reveal former Coppola muse Kirsten Dunst ("The Virgin Suicides," "Marie Antoinette") on set with Emma Watson and, judging by her attire, we'd say it looks like more than just a simple set visit.

Sundance Review: 'Bachelorette' Is The Movie For Anyone Who Wished 'Bridesmaids' Was More Like 'The Hangover'

Produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions, "Bachelorette" is the movie for all those people that wished "Bridesmaids" was more like "The Hangover." Three bridesmaids embark on a non-stop parade of debauchery fueled by coke, booze, and pills that make "The Hangover" dudes seem kind of like pussies. Kirsten Dunst plays Queen Bee Regan, leader of the "B-Faces" (short for "bitch faces"), a group of high school friends now in their early '30s scattered across the country in various stages of their lives. This crew includes promiscuous cokehead Gena (Lizzy Caplan), spacey retail worker Katie (Isla Fisher) and Becky ("Bridesmaids" scene stealer Rebel Wilson), a girl who was known as "Pig Face" in high school. Improbably, Becky becomes the first of the group to get engaged, to one of NYC's most wealthy men, and this confuses Regan -- who works with sick kids, keeps a perfect figure, and does everything she thinks she should to be the first one to walk down the aisle -- to no end. She tries (with all the muscles in her face) to remain supportive as she receives the news, but it's painfully clear she is not happy about it.

We have to admit, this is one of those projects we'd been hearing about for a while, and being an indie production, it's always hard to tell when these things will actually get off the ground. But when you have a guy like super producer Scott Rudin throwing his weight around, things get done, and moreover, big names can come into play. During the spring, Mark Ruffalo confirmed with us that he was taking a hard look at "Red Light Winter," and now an actress who has been riding an incredible wave of buzz all year confirms that he is aboard and that she is coming along as well.
