After playing small roles in a variety of comedies like “Baby Mama” and “Idiocracy,” Dax Shepard is set to lead his most high-profile project to date, the R-rated action comedy “Hit And Run.” While the first trailer looked like any other generic action comedy churned out by the studios in the past few decades, the new red band trailer shows a greater emphasis on the raunchy gross-out humor that’s been ruling the box office of late.

2012 has been an interesting year for Disney. It has seen some very high highs (the record-smashing "The Avengers," which recently eclipsed "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" to become the studio's single most successful film of all time) and very low lows ("John Carter," Andrew Stanton's sci-fi western, poisoned by bad publicity and even worse marketing, will cost the studio least $200 million). In truth, the studio only has a handful of true Disney films left on the horizon - a pair of animated treats (Pixar's "Brave," which we liked but didn't love; and Thanksgiving's videogame-themed "Wreck-It Ralph," a movie that we've been told is just phenomenal, even in super unfinished form) and a weird fantasy drama "The Odd Life of Timothy Green," which opens late this summer and looks like a total snooze (the rest of the movies Disney is releasing will be DreamWorks co-ops.) So it's not such a stretch to imagine execs looking towards 2013, with the period western "Lone Ranger" and, now, a big animated movie that fits just outside (but still snuggled up next to) the Disney princess line.

In a story on Kristen Bell joining the cast of Jennifer Getzinger's cinematic adaptation of Neil LaBute's play "Some Girls," The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively revealed that the actress-formerly-known-as-Veronica Mars will "provide the speaking and singing voice" as the lead in Disney's upcoming feature "Frozen," which means she will play the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale character the Snow Queen (first published way back in 1845). Additionally, the trade states that Warner Bros. and Weed Road (Akiva Goldsman's WB-based production shingle) have picked up the forthcoming graphic novel "Bolivar" for Irish animator Kealan O'Rourke to write and direct.

From TV star to movie star and back again, Kristen Bell is keeping busy. After breaking out as the beloved TV heroine Veronica Mars, Bell has tackled film roles like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “When In Rome” while continuing to dabble on the small screen now and again. In the past, most actors shifted from TV to features and never looked back, but the landscape is changing and Bell is happy to take advantage. Her new Showtime series opposite Don Cheadle, “House Of Lies,” debuted earlier this month to very positive reviews and her latest film role, as reporter Jill Gerard in Ken Kwapis’ political comedy, “Big Miracle,” hitting theaters this Friday. She also just finished up Dax Shepherd’s second directorial effort “Outrun,” which she describes as “in the vein of the Burt Reynolds movies of the ‘70s” and plays Supergirl opposite Justin Long’s Robin in one of the comedy shorts from the upcoming “Movie 43.”

Also, For Some Reason, Tom ArnoldWhile Bradley Cooper has used his post-"Limitless" and "The Hangover Part II" career to take a step upward with parts in Derek Cianfrance's "The Place Beyond The Pines," David O. Russell's "The Silver Linings Playbook," Alex Proyas' "Paradise Lost" and possibly even Warner Bros.' "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," he's not above doing favors for friends. Even if it means starring in a movie directed by Dax Shepard.

Malin Akerman, Dianna Agron, Mary Elizabeth Winstead Also Mentioned With one of the big casting questions of 2011 answered on Sunday, with the announcement that "The Tudors" veteran Henry Cavill will be playing Clark Kent/Superman in Zack Snyder's reboot of the iconic hero, questions immediately turn to who will be joining the British actor in the film, and specifically, who will play the Man Of Steel's better half, spunky reporter Lois Lane. Natalie Portman had been vaguely linked to the role before Christmas, but if there was ever any truth to the rumor, the recent announcement of her pregnancy surely puts paid to that, and otherwise, word has been fairly quiet. Until now.

We nearly forgot about this one, but way back in August, Kristen Bell signed on to the indie dramedy "Dance Of The Mirlitons" and then things went a bit quiet, but now everything is gearing back up again as Chloe Moretz, Jackie Earle Haley and Bailee Madison have all signed on to the film.
