Kristen Wiig exploded after the massive success of "Bridesmaids," but unlike Melissa McCarthy, we have yet to see the cinematic rewards be reaped. Her only notable post-'Bridesmaids' turns were a small part in "Friends With Kids" and another little bit in "Friends With Jolly!," but by the end of year, she'll be back on radars thanks to "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" and "The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty" alone. But before both of those, another one of her indie films will be hitting the big screen.

When "Casa De Mi Padre" dropped last spring, it more or less died on the vine, and was forgotten about. And that's a shame, because in my opinion, it was outrageously hilarious and go for broke, in the way that only a spoof of Mexican telenovelas could be. It was absurd, surreal and bonkers in the way that Will Ferrell does best (joined by game co-stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna), but perhaps the niche of its comedic target put people off. Well, whatever the reason, Ferrell is giving the parody soap opera concept another spin, with time with a more American flavored riff.

Though she received widespread critical and box office success with “Bridesmaids,” Kristen Wiig has taken her time where others most surely would have jumped at the first big paycheck. Now that Wiig has left “Saturday Night Live,” her schedule has opened in a big way and she’s set to take advantage of that by teaming up with her “Anchorman: The Legend Continues” collaborators Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.

Every year, amongst the countless films that see a theatrical release -- no matter how small -- there are a select few that are destined for that no man’s land known as direct-to-video. The latest entry in this grand tradition is “Revenge For Jolly!,” a film which our man in Tribeca was not a fan of, calling it “the most excruciating 80+ minutes you’ll spend in a theater this year.” And now, a new trailer for the film has dropped online, so see how bad it is for yourself below.

Now that she's gone from "Saturday Night Live," we're entering a new phase of Kristen Wiig's career. The actress already had a monster hit under her belt thanks to "Bridesmaids," but to her credit, she didn't rush into the first paycheck that came along, mixing big-time comedies like this Christmas's duo of "The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty" and "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" with indies like the upcoming "Hateship, Loveship" and "The Skeleton Twins."

While you can continue to debate the merits of Sunday night's Oscars hosted by Seth MacFarlane (as we have already done), the bottom line is the Academy got what they wanted by hiring the edgy, younger skewing, "Family Guy" creator. The ratings for the show were up in 2013 with 40.3 million viewers tuning in, the highest figure since 41.3 million turned on their televisions to see if "Avatar" would win Best Picture. (It didn't.) Anyway, if the Academy wants to go with the same gameplan next year, they'll have to find someone else.

With filming set to begin on "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" later this spring, it's only a matter of time before the lid is torn off all the surprises that are in store for the long-awaited return of Ron Burgundy and his newsteam. And while the core group of players are set to reprise their roles, it looks like one very, very funny face is joining the gang.

Last fall, a project entitled "The Other Woman" cropped up with Cameron Diaz linked to star, and Kristin Wiig was said to be "under consideration" for the co-starring role. And then nobody heard anything about it again. But the movie has popped back up and Diaz is back in the mix, with a director now ready to take the helm.

It's a good morning to be a Los Angeles pharmacist, as, Hollywood is just this moment waking up with their worst hangover of the year. Yep, it's the morning after the Golden Globes, and what the Hollywood Foreign Press Association lacks in respect or prestige, it makes up for in free-flowing booze and raucous partying. And so long as you don't take it too seriously, it can make for pretty entertaining viewing, something proven last night.
