With the male leading cast of Kathryn Bigelow's untitled project aka "Kill Bin Laden" featuring two Aussies (Joel Edgerton, Jason Clarke), one Brit (Mark Strong) and a Venezuelan (Edgar Ramirez) it's about time another American came aboard to join Chris Pratt. And you don't get much more heartland flavor than you do with "Friday Night Lights" and "Super 8" star Kyle Chandler.

Though he's still best known as Coach Eric Taylor on "Friday Night Lights," Kyle Chandler has been taking some much deserved steps onto the big screen. This summer his was one of the biggest names amongst the mostly newcomer cast in J.J. Abrams' "Super 8" and this fall, he's been working on Ben Affleck's forthcoming "Argo." Well, he's lined up one more starry vehicle as he continues to put the yards between himself and the football drama.

For the last few weeks Ben Affleck has been hurriedly assembling an eclectic cast for his next directorial effort, the historical thriller "Argo." We've watched (and reported) as Affleck has brought together a wonderful cast of actors, including Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Bryan Cranston (in a role that forced him out of Ruben Fleischer's "Gangster Squad" and apparently "World War Z"), Kyle Chandler, Tate Donovan, Richard Kind and Michael Parks, who all appear alongside the talented director-star.

Kyle Chandler is one of those actors who is a journeyman, logging time on a number of television shows -- "Homefront" and "Early Edition" among them -- and appearing in small roles in a number of films before finally landing what would be his star-making turn in "Friday Night Lights." The critically acclaimed show struggled for survival throughout its five seasons, but it was a launchpad for folks like Taylor Kitsch, Adrianne Palicki and Minka Kelly and for Chandler as well, it put him firmly on the radar thanks to his turn as Eric Taylor. J.J. Abrams made a great choice in slotting him in "Super 8" and now Chandler will see his stock rise with a role in another highly touted pic.
