In case you hadn't heard, diehard fans of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" received a treat last week with a behind-the-scenes look at the sequel, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug." However, you could only participate in the Peter Jackson-led Q&A if you had purchased the 'Unexpected Journey' Blu-Ray and entered a code from the DVD package (nifty way to make you spend that extra dough for what will be a double dip release, no?). Well, some of that footage has made it's way online now and it shows a few small first-look reveals of the cast in action.

Exciting news for “Boardwalk Empire” fans – Jeffrey Wright will join the show for its fourth season next year as a series regular. He'll be playing “Valentin Narcisse, Doctor of Divinity, philanthropist, student of culture and the man who runs Harlem.” So he’s a character with a pretty impressive CV, and it's some nice casting for a show that continues to cast respected character actors. Wright recently finished work on “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” where he played the notable character from the books, Beetee.

Marvel sure does like their British and Aussie actors. With "Guardians Of The Galaxy" now less than two years from release, the studio is starting to get the cast in place for what is easily the most ambitious project on their slate (it has an alien tree creature and a pistol-wielding, talking raccoon, guys), and a ridiculously long laundry list of actors have been revealed as possibilities to star.

While Daniel Day-Lewis is rightfully earning the most attention around "Lincoln" as he portrays the iconic President in Steven Spielberg's film, it's easy to forget that the picture is rounded out by a supporting cast of top-shelf actors. And now a fresh batch of new pics gives them a bit of shine.

We imagine one of the buzz words in movie marketing departments these days, along with 'Pinterest' and 'viral games' is 'app.' Barely any major movie hits theaters without some kind of iOS-related promotional tie-in, often in the form of a game, or something similar. Some are genuinely nifty (the Hans Zimmer one for "Inception" was pretty great), most are a bit half-hearted, but few are particularly revelatory about the movie themselves.

For Lee Pace, it has always seemed that bigger things have just been on the horizon. Most people probably recognize his face from his work on two shortlived, but acclaimed television shows "Wonderfalls" and "Pushing Daisies," however, astute film fans have also picked up on his talents. He was great as the love interest in the underseen and hugely underrated charmer "Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day," and he nearly stole the show as the arrogant documentary filmmaker Whit Coutell in Max Winkler's "Ceremony" and Hollywood has certainly sat up and taken notice. Pace is now part of two huge franchises with roles in the "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" films and in Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" and now he can add one of the next year's biggest pieces of Oscar bait to his schedule.

Considering its long, troubled pre-production beset by delays, a change of director, and even health problems for Peter Jackson, we're glad that filming on "The Hobbit" has now commenced and things seem to be running fairly smoothly. With one exception, that is: last weekend, it was announced that British actor Rob Kazinsky had dropped out of the film. Kazinsky had been cast as Fili, one of the 13 dwarves that accompany Bilbo Baggins on his quest, but withdrew due to "health issues," although it's worth noting that Jackson has recast on his films before, replacing Stuart Townsend with Viggo Mortensen on "Lord of the Rings," and Ryan Gosling with Mark Wahlberg on "The Lovely Bones."
