Looks like the rumors are true. Just over a week ago word began to surface that the first trailer for Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" would be playing in front of "Prometheus," and with the trailer now set to drop in full online tomorrow, it looks like that will be the case. But you don't have to until Wednesday or this weekend to get a glimpse of the footage, as ET has a preview of what you can expect.

It's interesting how the narrative changes. After the monumental success of "The Dark Knight," Christopher Nolan clearly needed a break and a palette cleanser that became "Inception," as per his blockbuster rule (the director also shot "The Prestige" in between the first two Batman films). At the time, when asked about a third Batman film, Nolan said he and David S. Goyer would take a break and would only make a third picture if and when they came across a good story to tell. But recent interviews between Goyer, Nolan and co-screenwriter Jonah Nolan suggest that this trio always knew how Bruce Wayne's story would end.

At the moment -- though we expect at least one or two of these movies will blink and move in the next few months -- Christmas Day is gonna be a pileup of high profile movies with "Playing The Field," "The Guilt Trip," "Django Unchained" and "The Great Gatsby" all set to open. And the latter two films are already pulling out the big guns. 'Django' screened footage in Cannes and has a teaser trailer dropping at any day now, while 'Gatsby' already got a full trailer out of the gate. And if you can't get enough 'Gatsby,' well, here's a bit more for you.

Even though it's not coming out until Christmas, and is still shooting, The Weinstein Company are getting the ball rolling very early on Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained." And it's easy to see why. While the director may be a name brand at this point, his latest, a slavery-centered spaghetti western, could be his most controversial yet. However, with early footage screened at the Cannes Film Festival that delivered everything fans now expect from the director, and with rumors of a teaser trailer unspooling in front of "Prometheus," buzz is building for the film and it looks like the audiences will soon get a taste of what Tarantino is brewing.

Well, the first trailer for "The Great Gatsby" arrived earlier this week and it proved two things: 1) there seems to be no limit to where Kanye West and Jay-Z's "No Church In The Wild" can be used, and 2) for better or worse, this movie is a Baz Luhrmann film all the way.

When it was announced that Baz Luhrmann would be directing a film version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby," anyone who knew the Australian director's work sort of knew what to expect. They might not have guessed that he'd make the whole thing in 3D (which he has), but they knew you'd get something lavish, operatic and heavily styilized, with party scenes that finally lived up to some of Fitzgerald's descriptions.

We're still seven months away from the year's end, but with the unveiling of trailers for "Skyfall" and "The Master" yesterday, 2013 seems that little bit closer now, doesn't it? Unless the Mayans were right all along, Christmas this year will bring two major film releases in Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" -- which we caught glimpses of yesterday at Cannes -- and Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel "The Great Gatsby," both of which star Leonardo DiCaprio.

Capping off The Weinstein Company press presentation this evening was what was arguably the longest look of the trio of films they unveiled, Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained." And for better or worse, it's pure Tarantino through and through. Longtime fans of the director are going to be thrilled, and for anyone hoping he's changed his visual approach, or swapped out his longstanding influences for something different, they might be advised to skip this one entirely, even though it will be their loss.

We already know that Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" is going to be something special. Centering on slavery and vengeance, but delivering through the conventions of a spaghetti western in a way that only Tarantino knows how, there are few films this year taking as big a risk. And if these first official images from the film indicate anything, it's that the pay off could be something truly memorable.

"Mystic River," "Gone Baby Gone" and "Shutter Island." As far as book-to-film adaptations go, Dennis Lehane is batting a perfect 3-for-3, and with Warner Bros. behind two of those pictures, they are looking to score another success by enlisting Leonardo DiCaprio.
