This week sees the DVD and Blu-ray release of "Bachelorette" starring Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher, Lizzy Caplan and Rebel Wilson. This raunchy, unflinching, darkly comic indie was written and directed by Leslye Headland ("Terriers") and follows three best friends (Caplan, Fisher, Dunst) who are invited to act as bridesmaids at the wedding of a girl (Wilson) they called “Pigface” in high school.

We love Lizzy Caplan, but then who doesn’t? It’s pretty hard not to. She was awesome in one of the best comedies of the last decade (“Mean Girls”), similarly awesome in one of the best sitcoms of the last decade (“Party Down”), and has continued to impress in interesting projects ever since. We’re looking forward to seeing her alongside another favorite of ours, Michael Sheen, in Showtime’s intriguing looking “Masters of Sex” later this year. But today we have an unexpected bonus dose of Caplan with the online short, “Fashion Film.”

Review: 'Save The Date' Is Light & Endearing Without Being Insubstantial; What Other Rom-Coms Should Aspire To Be

With the countless number of romantic comedies focused on how difficult it is for a woman to find a good man, it’s incredibly refreshing to see one where the tables are turned. In “Save The Date,” Lizzy Caplan stars as Sarah, a struggling illustrator who keeps herself afloat by managing a local bookstore. After dating her boyfriend Kevin (Geoffrey Arend) for two years, she has hesitantly agreed to move in with him to take their relationship to the next level. Kevin is the singer in a two-man indie band called Wolf Bird -- because all indie bands have Wolf in their name -- whose drummer Andrew (Martin Starr) is engaged to Sarah’s sister Beth (Alison Brie). Their first night as cohabitants looks like romantic bliss as the couple tenderly slow dances together, while Sarah warns that she will be a horrible roommate, messy and forgetful. Kevin is smitten anyway, and despite the warnings of friends that he may be moving too fast, he hatches a plan to propose to Sarah during the final Wolf Bird concert before he embarks on a nationwide tour. But his spur-of-the-moment gesture goes horribly awry and Sarah storms out, leaving the entire embarrassing incident captured on YouTube.

A comedy centered on two very different sisters, featuring a solid cast including Lizzy Caplan, Alison Brie, Martin Starr, Mark Webber, Melonie Diaz, Geoffrey Arend and Timothy Busfield, the Sundance rom-com "Save the Date" has been rather quiet since it premiered in Utah earlier this year. But IFC Films, releasing the picture later this fall, is finally bringing their campaign to life. Directed by Michael Mohan ("One Too Many Mornings") the first trailer for the film has arrived and it quotes our review from Sundance where we described it as an "endearing" picture that "other rom-coms should aspire to be." And indeed, it does look charming while still containing some emotional depth and smarts.

Damn, the trailer for "3, 2, 1... Frankie Go Boom" looks strange. In a really good way. So how do we explain the madness therein? Let's go to the official synopsis which is brief: Frank Bartlett has been tortured, embarrassed and humiliated by his brother Bruce -- usually on film -- his entire life. Now that Bruce is finally off drugs and has turned his life around, things should be different. They are not.

As last year's smash hit "Bridesmaids" showed, girls can get just as rowdy as guys, and deliver big laughs and box office along the way. And while that film told the story of marriage and it's effect on friendship from the engagement right to the wedding day, it missed one key component of that whole arc. And that's where "Bachelorette" fits in.

While the first trailer for "Bachelorette" was amusing, it didn't seem to quite capture the spirit that has earned the girls-gone-bad comedy an R rating. But in case you wanted to know how foul things get, a new red band spot has dropped, and among the first things mentioned in the spot are blowjobs and cocaine. Getting our attention? Mission accomplished.

There's no doubt the "Bridesmaids" comparisons will be thrown around for this one, and certainly the success of that film likely helped this one get in front of cameras last summer, but there are some slight variations in "Bachelorette." While in Paul Feig's film the bachelorette party ultimately gets canceled, here it's the centerpiece of the entire movie. Moreover, "Bachelorette" looks like it could be substantially fun, and the cast is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

Yes, we're still playing a bit of catch-up with the deluge of geekery that landed over the past few days at Comic-Con, but we're nearly there. While Marvel got the most press for the unveiling of logos and titles, as well as the confirmation of Ben Kingsley as Mandarin in "Iron Man 3," the company also dropped a pretty decent helping of "Item 47," the upcoming One Shot short set to appear on the "The Avengers" DVD and Blu-ray this fall.
