Frank, Fassbender
Are some so-called "diamonds in the rough" so special they can only exist on the fringes? When a rare species enters the ecosystem of the mainstream, does its unique needs break down in a polluted environment? These are some of the ideas expressed in “Frank,” an off-the-wall and terrific paean to misfits and freaks, their dreams and visions.

Frank
Ever since it premiered at Sundance, we've been openly sharing our love for "Frank" and that's because it's one of the most unique comedies of the year and, particularly if you're a music fan or musician, a picture that'll have a bit of extra resonance. But even if not, it's got a killer ensemble all doing top-notch work in a movie that nails its big ambitions.

Frank, Gyllenhaal, Fassbender
An unexpected hit out of Sundance, where we called it a “terrific and sublime experience," Lenny Abrahamson’s “Frank” has since gathered momentum on its way to a theatrical release via continued positive buzz, as well as a strong promotional push of its odder elements. We’ve already seen a host of trailers, interviews and the single “I Love You All” from the film, and now you can add two new clips to the bunch that give a sense of its strange and singular rhythms.

Scoot McNairy, Frank, Fassbender
You ever hear some indie pop tune and you knew in a perfect world it would be a #1 hit, but because of the way major label infrastructure with radio and music video channels worked, you knew it was destined to be a cult hit song that only you, your friends and a whole bunch of other likeminded people across the nation would cherish? That’s kind of akin to “Frank,” a movie, that in a perfect world would be a big hit.

Frank, Sundance
An unexpected little treat has arrived on the eve of SXSW: the trailer for “Frank,” one of our favorite films from the Sundance Film Festival. Starring Michael Fassbender, Domhnall Gleeson, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Scott McNairy, “Frank” is a wickedly funny yet poignant look at outsider art, misfits, freaky rock n’ roll and more. Directed by Lenny Abrahamson (“What Richard Did”), the film is loosely based on the story of Chris Sievey, aka Frank Sidebottom, an English musician who became notorious for always wearing a giant papier–mache head whenever he played live.

River of Fundament
Before anything: brass tacks. Matthew Barney's new film “River of Fundament” features a number of taboo-breaking, provocative scenes. They are unsimulated and shot in close-up, rubbing your face in their shock value. I could give you a list of 25 such moments, but we’ll stick with three.

Frank, Fassbender
While the Sundance Film Festival seems like a distant memory, one film we can't stop talking about is "Frank." One of the best films we saw in Park City, and a definite highlight among our writers on the ground, the Michael Fassbender-starring musical comedy is a distinct, odd, unique and highly entertaining take on being a musician and the process of creating art. And now we've got a batch of new images to take you further inside the zany world of the movie.
