Transformer: Age of Extinction
Still no sign of J.C. Chandor's "A Most Violent Year" on the fall festival slate, but while we wait to see where the film pops up (*cough* Telluride *cough*), the director is keeping busy with the lineup for his next, "Deepwater Horizon," landing none other than Mark Wahlberg for the lead role. The movie is based on a true story and will find the actor playing the "No. 2 manager on the doomed oil rig" in the movie that "revisits the acts of heroism that followed in trying to rescue men in the water, stories not known to the general public." Production starts next year.

Planet Of The Apes
With critics mostly fawning in early reviews for the upcoming "Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes," the sequel to potent franchise re-starter "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes," it might be worth remembering that there was a time when Fox had previously tried to relaunch their property. And the results weren't pretty.

Transformers 4
For the past seven years or so, Michael Bay has focused almost exclusively on "Transformers" films, with one exception—last year's "Pain & Gain." That steroid-infused movie presented an overstimulated, sneering and cynical view of the pursuit of the American dream, following two muscleheads who scheme their way towards the life they think they should be living. Swimming in greed, murder and mayhem, the film portrayed the pursuit of material wealth as an empty endeavour, which seems a bit surprising for a filmmaker who has directed TV ads for major corporate brands and worked exclusively in the studio system. And in a strange way, "Transformers: Age Of Extinction" almost acts as an apology for "Pain & Gain," with the film presenting everything that's the best and worst of Bay's toy movies to the extreme, while proudly waving the American flag.

Transformers: Age of Extinction
“Transformers: Age of Extinction” open in theaters this Friday, guys, and from the horse's mouth himself Michael Bay says, “The best way to see this movie is definitely in IMAX 3D. By far.” See it in the highest-priced version you can possibly watch it in? You don’t say! “Why? Because for one, we did technically-excellent 3D in this film,” he wrote on his website. “We conceived and shot this movie with 3D cameras. So many movies use 3D as an a

Transformers: Age of Extinction
There is only one reason why anybody goes to see "Transformers" films: explosions. Or for the more nerdy, the chance to see whichever [insert toy] come to life thanks to the wonders of CGI. And while that simple incentive has pushed the franchise into billion dollar territory, it's easy to forget how utterly, terribly and horribly unfunny the comedic sequences can be. Well, one clip is here from "Transformers: Age Of Extinction" to remind you of that, with another taking things in a more serious direction.

Transformers: Age of Extinction
Remember spring 2013 when it was Michael Bay appreciation month and everyone was psyched about “Pain And Gain”? Yeah, that didn't last. That critical narrative has sharply shifted upon the release of Bay’s next robot spectacle. Some don’t seem to care though. “They’ve talked about doing more,” Mark Wahlberg recently said glibly about Paramount and their new franchise re-starter “Transformers: Age Of Extinction.” Ahahhahaha, yeah. Right, they’ve just talked about it, who knows, maybe, right? Maybe this is just Wahlberg in denial that he is already signed on for three more of these movies (the idea always being to spawn a new franchise). Of course they’re making more.

Star Trek 3, GI Joe 3, Transformers 5 Coming In 2016
"Well, they’ve talked about doing more," Mark Wahlberg told HitFix about possible future "Transformers" films. "When you make a deal on a movie like this, they’re definitely going to want to negotiate those things in advance." And while he's being cagey, he's also correct that these days, studios want to tie down their franchise actors. And let's not forget that last year, Wahlberg was a bit more definitive about his role in the series saying, "I definitely had to sign up for three." Of course, Paramount is banking on audiences showing up, and clearly they're confident they will.

Transformers: Age Of Exctinction
We're now only a few weeks away from the arrival of the most anticipated movie of the year for people who like indistinguishable metal CGI characters and slow-motion pans of people looking up to the sky, because Michael Bay's fourth "Transformers" movie, "Age Of Extinction," is nearly imminent. With Shia LaBoeuf off being a lunatic, the new film is essentially a reboot, retaining some of the Transformer characters but focusing on a new set of humans, led by Mark Wahlberg's mechanic, his daughter Nicola Peltz, and her racecar-driving boyfriend Jack Reynor. And because it's, uh, the humans that made the franchise into the billion-dollar behemoth it is today, that's the focus of the first clip from the movie, which just landed.

The Other Guys
Last year, you might remember that Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn were kicking around "Daddy's Home" as a potential reunion vehicle, and while seeing them again together on the big screen in leading roles would've been nice. But this new plan is one we can roll with.

Transformers: Age of Extinction
Mark Wahlberg really believes in "Transformers: Age Of Extinction." He's already declared that it will be the "biggest movie of 2014," and he's not stopping there. Chatting with IGN, Wahlberg is promising that the good stuff isn't being given away in the trailers, and that when you plunk down your hard-earned cash, you'll get what you paid for.
