Interstellar
In the hours leading up to Paramount's big presentation in Hall H, rumblings began to circulate that the studio was planning something "historic." Considering that, on the books, it looked like a fairly boilerplate rundown of footage from some upcoming projects ("Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," the second "SpongeBob SquarePants" animated film, the found footage time travel movie "Project Almanac"), it didn't seem like this could possibly be true. But then, at the very end of the panel, it was: both Matthew McConaughey and Christopher Nolan, first-time Comic Con participants, took the stage to discuss the wildly ambitious new sci-fi project "Interstellar" and show off a brand new trailer for the film. Oh, and it looks really, really good.

True Detective
It was smart choices that led Matthew McConaughey's McConaissance, and he's going to keep going down that path. We'll see him on the big screen later this year in Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar," he's gearing up to shoot Gus Van Sant's "Sea Of Tress" and now it appears he's lining up "The Company Man."

The Unborn Gary Oldman
It should have been simple. It’s only a couple of weeks away from the release of “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” why not have its human star, the franchise ubiquitous Gary Oldman, sit down for an interview with Playboy? There’s no way that could go wrong, right? While 20th Century Fox and Oldman’s publicist do damage control, let’s run down some of the other non-Mel Gibson-defending things Oldman revealed in the very candid talk with the famous lad mag. (And okay, the Mel Gibson stuff too).

Magic Mike
We usually do casting round ups, but today we fly in the face of routine with a couple of updates on movies that people won't be in (or may not be in). So let's get this ball of things not happening rolling...

True Detective
Time, as we all know by now, is a flat circle. And so, nearly three months on from the conclusion of "True Detective," we're starting to loop back around. Casting rumors are already gearing up for the second season of Nic Pizzolatto and HBO's wildly acclaimed crime show, and we should be hearing much more about it in the weeks to come, especially with the series likely to be a behemoth in the upcoming Emmy nominations.

True Detective
When Matthew McConaughey signed on for “True Detective,” the actor thought it would be a one-time deal and that’s it. "That was always how I saw it. One season, eight episodes, a finite beginning, middle and end, goodbye, look forward to watching it," he told Deadline this week in an Emmy-related conversation. "If HBO had wanted an option on me for a season two or three, I wouldn't have done it. I wouldn't have walked into something where they could say, 'We've got you for the next three years'."

"The world doesn’t need any more engineers. We didn’t run out of planes and television sets… we ran out of food," David Oyelowo intones in the new trailer for Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar." And the answer to save humanity's fate lies up above, in the stars.

Interstellar
As we (impatiently) wait for the new trailer for Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar" that's currently only playing in Washington, D.C., producer Emma Thomas teases what it will all mean. "The trailer highlights a line of dialogue from the film; 'Mankind was born on Earth; it was never meant to die here," producer Emma Thomas tells EW. "It emphasizes…mankind's destiny in the universe."

Matthew McConaughey ‘Wall Street’ Chest Bump Gets Remixed; Explains Origins Of ‘Alright, Alright, Alright’

Wolf of Wall Street
“You know what a Fugazi is? A Fugazee, fugazi, it’s a wahzee, it’s a woozee, it’s [whistles], fairy dust.” Matthew McConaughey is in Martin Scorsese’s three hour opus “The Wolf of Wall Street,” for what, all of fifteen minutes? But as per usual in the last few years, he steals the show as Leonardo DiCaprio’s insane Wall Street d-bag mentor. His rules for living, as mentioned in our review is, “masturbate several times a day and ingest generous amounts of cocaine.” Read More »

True Detective, Feature header
This morning, a dull, gray dawn broke on a dull, gray “True Detective”-less world. The show that has had us gripped for the last eight weeks (or the last weekend for compulsive binge watchers—hi there!) came to an end in either a blaze of HBOGO-crashing glory, or a fizzle of HBOGO-crashing disappointment, depending on your point of view. We’re much more in the former camp than the latter, so much so that we found our usual Good vs. Bad approach wanting this time around, purely because after a couple of niggles we were really reaching for anything particularly bad to say about it.
