Hailee Steinfeld, Pitch Perfect 2
After a steady stream of rumors surrounding its storyline and lead actors, Josh Trank’s “Fantastic Four” reboot is finally underway and filming, with Miles Teller, Jamie Bell, Kate Mara, and Michael B. Jordan set to battle Dr. Doom (Toby Kebbell). However, there are still some shifts to be made, as the superhero film has added one actor and also denied another from signing on to a long-gestating biopic.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit
Hollywood is still trying to make Chris Pine happen. Outside of the "Star Trek" franchise, the actor has been a non-starter, but that's not stopping Disney from choosing Pine to lead "The Finest Hours."

Sam Riley, Eddie Redmayne, Toby Kebbell, Domhnall Gleeson Dr. Doom
Producer Matthew Vaughn and director Josh Trank have been doing everything in their power to distance their “Fantastic Four” reboot from the earlier goofy films. Not content with just casting great young actors as the famous superhero team, the filmmakers are looking to surprise with their villain choice too.

Earlier this week, Michael B. Jordan was (mostly) confirmed as one of the new "Fantastic Four" over at Fox. And so, while Latino Review are reporting that the actor has met with Zack Snyder for a potential role in "Batman Vs. Superman," we don't see it happening for the simple reason that Fox won't want their "Fantastic Four" lead popping up in a rival franchise. But that's not the important part of this rumor.

No, Viggo Mortensen isn't starring in some new Marvel movie, despite the name of the developing drama "Captain Fantastic." Instead, the actor will be joining "28 Hotel Rooms" director Matt Ross' film about "an idealistic father who, after a decade of living off the grid in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, must return with his six young kids to assimilate back into society."

Fantastic Four Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara & Jamie Bell
Poor Josh Trank has had to answer a sea of rumors in putting together his vision for "The Fantastic Four." The scrutiny is understandable: this is a property that has been adapted into film twice already (three times if you count a basically-unreleased early '90s incarnation), each time failing to impress the hardcore fans. And Fox, eager to kick-start the series to keep it from reverting back to Marvel, have been keeping things close to the vest, refusing to disclose any story details for a film that’s a little over a year away, and about to begin production. But if this latest casting notice is anything to go by, Fox is playing fast and loose with the series. And why not?

Fantastic Four Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara & Jamie Bell
Although the trades are being cautious and using phrases like "seems that way" while underscoring some deals aren't in place, Josh Trank hasn't hit Twitter yet to debunk this latest news, and most places seem pretty confident that casting on "Fantastic Four" has finally been locked down. And it looks like the reboot of the superhero quartet are bringing some rising young faces to the roles.

Where on Earth do we begin with the saga that is the forever developing Richard Pryor biopic, once known as "Is It Something I Said?" Well it has gone through a couple of producers (Adam Sandler and most recently, Forest Whitaker, who doesn't seem to be linked anymore), and while it looked like Bill Condon would get it off the ground in the fall of 2010, nothing came to pass and it remained in development hell. But now, it's once again back to life thanks to The Weinstein Company.

It's been brewing for a while, but John Hillcoat's cop thriller "Triple Nine" is slowly but surely putting together a helluva cast. Over the summer, Cate Blanchett, Christoph Waltz and Charlie Hunnam all got involved, and while one has been lost since, more exciting choices have come aboard.

Her, Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams
So how influential are the National Board Of Review winners? Well, last year "Zero Dark Thirty" won Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress and went on to be shut out in all three categories when the Oscars rolled out. Basically, just remember that there is a gulf between critics and Academy voters (remember the year when "The Social Network" cleaned up in the all early awards?) so just take a breath. That said, it's nice to see the love.
