Everyone from Sam Worthington (really) to Orson Welles has taken on "Macbeth," and the Shakespeare play that dare not say its name has been adapted countless time for the stage, television and multiplex. Well, when it comes to the cinema, (quality) movie versions have been a bit fewer and farther between, so the news that Michael Fassbender might take the lead in "the Scottish play" certainly has our attention.

Not to dick around, but we've got nudity on the boob right now. Mind. On the mind. Thing is, with an intriguing article over at EW exploring the death of the movie sex scene and the rise of the New Prudishness, with waves made over Kristen Stewart's nudity and handjobs in "On the Road," and now with this week's "Trance" under fire from some quarters for Rosario Dawson's (some say plot-driven, others say gratuitous) birthday suit scene, we've been thinking about nakedness in film almost as much as Seth McFarlane was when he wrote his already-infamous Oscars opening song, though largely without, we hope, the sniggering misogyny.

Filming might have got underway, but the dust is still settling on what was undoubtedly the biggest news story of the week: "We Need To Talk About Kevin" director Lynne Ramsay seemingly walking out of her latest film, Western "Jane Got A Gun" on the first day of production, before a frame had been shot. She was swiftly replaced by "Warrior" helmer Gavin O'Connor, but actor Jude Law followed Ramsay out the door, leaving stars Natalie Portman and Joel Edgerton without a villain (though Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire and Jeff Bridges are apparently being courted).

With Lynne Ramsay shockingly and mysteriously bailing on western "Jane Got A Gun" yesterday, producer Scott Steindorff of Scott Pictures promised a director would be found imminently. He wasn't kidding. Less than 24 hours later, the film has a brand new helmer to get the movie going, and likely keep any delays minimal.

Over the last few years, we've seen Michael Fassbender in a number of different guises; British agent disguised as a Nazi, Roman warrior, Gothic romantic lead, metal-bending Holocaust-surviving mutant, repressed psychotherapist, rampant sex addict, treacherous secret agent, and Peter O'Toole-ish android. But his next project promises to show him in a guise that we've never seen before from the Irish-German actor.

Well, this just got a whole lot more interesting. With the upcoming 'X-Men' movie featuring a plot that involves time travel/time jumping to a certain degree, many wondered if this new series would reach back to the first trilogy of films that were capped off by "X-Men: The Last Stand." And now there is a pretty clear argument that it will likely happen.

As everyone gathers around the table this weekend to eat turkey until their stomachs can take no more, they will be giving thanks, and two actors who have a lot to be thankful for in 2012 are Bradley Cooper and Michael Fassbender. The former has "Silver Linings Playbook" opening this weekend and has had an eventful year with "The Place Beyond The Pines" premiering at TIFF, while he's been busy on film sets for Susanne Bier's "Serena" and "The Hangover Part III." As for Fassy, riding high on the acclaim for "Shame," he featured in this summer's "Prometheus," re-teamed with Ridley Scott for "The Counselor," re-teamed with Steve McQueen for "Twelve Years A Slave," worked with Terrence Malick on his Austin music movie and has much more coming as well. So let's take a look back in time to when they were both up-and-coming.

Even as this week's "Silent Hill: Revelations" creeps into theaters, the search for a good -- or at least watchable -- video game movie continues. But game titans Ubisoft are at least being pro-active, taking a leaf from Marvel's approach and deciding to develop and partially finance their own movies, starting with one of their own crown jewels, the "Assassin's Creed" franchise.
