Just over a year ago, Terrence Malick stunned concertgoers at the Austin City Limits festival by mixing with the crowd while shooting Christian Bale, who mingled with amongst performers that included Arcade Fire, Iron & Wine and Fleet Foxes. As we predicted, now that "official" production has started on the untitled movie (last year's shoot was said to be pre-production) formerly known as "Lawless," Malick returned to Austin with his cast and crew in tow once again offering up some of the more curious memories of the weekend.

By the time Terrence Malick finishes with "Knight Of Cups" and his currently filming, untitled love-triangle movie, pretty much every actor, musician and sideshow attraction will have logged time in front of his cameras. The director seems to love hanging out with famous people almost as much as he loves cutting them out of his movies, and now the oddest set photo you'll see all year reveals another bizarro addition to his cast.

Having recently wrapped "Knights Of Cups" in L.A., a story about a man's temptations, celebrity and excess that stars Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, Isabelle Lucas (at least in its principal cast), recluse filmmaker turned speedy auteur, Terrence Malick is now in Austin, Texas shooting his next picture, formerly known as "Lawless" (Malick was kind enough to let his friend John Hillcoat take the name for his gangster drama that came out late August).

Well, we've always said that Michael Fassbender could probably do anything. The chameleonic actor has been a mutant, a robot, an IRA prisoner, a sex addict, a resurrected Nazi ghoul and whatever-the-hell he was in "Jonah Hex." And while almost all of his performances have had wry strains of humor, he's never had to be outright funny. Until now.

"Jane Got a Gun," the small-scale western starring Natalie Portman that recently attached "We Need to Talk About Kevin" filmmaker Lynne Ramsay as a director, could be getting some added firepower in the form of a white hot leading man, sex addict and occasional robot (in the movies, at least) Michael Fassbender. Vulture reports that the actor is in early talks for the film, which could start lensing early next year.

The history of the video game movie has not been a glorious one. With most games being fairly heavily derivative of movies in the first place, potential adaptations have struggled to become distinctive, and low-calibre talent has generally been involved to date, bastardizing games (e.g. "Super Mario Brothers") or simply choosing the wrong ones to adapt (like the string of movies based on beat-em-ups). When the not-very-good "Doom" is pretty much the high watermark of the genre to date, you know you're in serious trouble.

Tired of hearing about “Prometheus?” Well, what else are we cinephiles supposed to talk about? “That’s My Boy”? “Snow White and the Huntsman”? “ROCK OF AGES"!?! Anyways, for those still involved in the discussion of all things regarding director Ridley Scott’s divisive summer blockbuster, “Prometheus,” a bit of new information has leaked regarding one of the film’s many ambiguities. Suffice to say, spoilers for “Prometheus” follow:

People are celebrating the release of glam metal musical "Rock Of Ages" this weekend in a number of ways: booking their opening night tickets, throwing Stacee Jaxx-themed parties, or sealing themselves in an underground bunker until it passes like Michael Shannon in "Take Shelter." Michael Fassbender, who's currently the toast of the town thanks to his excellent performance in "Prometheus," is celebrating in a different way.

Well, "Prometheus" is in theaters. And if nothing else, it's been causing more furious debate -- in multiplex lobbies, in bars, online -- than most movies in recent memory. And The Playlist head office has been a warzone, with some loving the film, some loathing it, and some (like our review) falling somewhere in the middle. Name-calling and threats of physical violence have ensued.

Watch: 4 New Clips From 'Prometheus' Celebrate Untrustworthy Androids & Ominous Possibilities

Androids. Anyone that saw Ridley Scott's "Alien" and "Blade Runner" knows that the director is fairly dubious about the apparent artificial intelligence that will be commonplace in the future. With Scott's "Prometheus" currently playing overseas and only a week away from release on this side of the Atlantic, it's clear that the director is still suspicious about man playing God, as evidenced by the beautiful but creepy viral video concerning Michael Fassbender's android character David. Now, Fox has released four new preview clips from "Prometheus," some of which highlight the possible duplicity of Fassbender's David, while the others point to a grim outcome for the characters, no matter whether the threat is human or android. And in case you're wondering: yes, these are pretty spoilery, so don't watch if you want to go into the movie fresh.
