Even from his first round of interviews promoting “Reservoir Dogs,” Quentin Tarantino has always concerned himself with the grand overview of his career, adding layer upon referential layer to his world-building while talking up spinoffs galore. However, with his slavery western “Django Unchained” right around the corner -- and featuring its share of trilogy hints itself -- the director has spoken up about the end of his filmmaking career, as well as a number of insights into his latest bold effort.

So far, Steve McQueen's films --"Hunger" and "Shame" -- have favored small casts delivering intense drama, but with "Twelve Years A Slave" he's switching the game. The subject matter is still sober (slavery), but he's enlisting pretty much every one of our favorite actors in a cinephile's equivalent of pornography. And he's added one more name to the already stellar cast.

Ten years ago this month, "The Wire" premiered on HBO. While the show was mostly met with indifference at first, was routinely ignored by the Emmys and almost always faced cancellation from season to season, the show has obviously posthumusly grown in stature and is now well-regarded as one of the greatest shows to ever appear on television. Created by ex- Baltimore police reporter David Simon with the assistance of former Baltimore police detective Ed Burns, in many ways, 'The Wire" changed the game of TV with its scope of vision and longtail patience.

Music biopics come and go, but this spring minds were blown when the always awesome Michael K. Williams was cast as Ol' Dirty Bastard in the film "Dirty White Boy." Of course, any movie involving ODB has to include the Wu-Tang Clan, and the idea of trying to find actors to fill those roles would be a mind-boggling challenge. But likely, the filmmakers don't have to worry about that.

While biopics on N.W.A. and Tupac have been talked about for a while now, and seem to be stuck in development, it looks like a movie about one of their contemporaries is not only moving forward, but has made a brilliant and bold casting choice: Michael K. Williams (aka Omar from "The Wire") will be playing Ol' Dirty Bastard in "Dirty White Boy." Fucking yes.

Bummer! Though once mooted for the lead role that eventually went to Jamie Foxx, Quentin Taraninto has long had his eye on Michael K. Williams (aka Omar from "The Wire") for a role in "Django Unchained." The actor himself chatted up the prospect of starring in the movie, saying earlier this year that the director was writing a part for him and following that up shortly thereafter with the tease that his participation looked "good to go." But a long time has past since, with a ton of casting along the way and unfortunately, Williams won't be in the film.

After years of excellent work, Michael K. Williams is finally starting to reap the rewards in a mainstream capacity with a recurring role on the Martin Scorsese-backed HBO series "Boardwalk Empire," a guest spot on this season of "Community," and more recently, a role that looks good to go in Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" specifically written after Williams lost out the lead role to Jamie Foxx.
