Actress Talks Taking On Iconic Role For whatever reason (perhaps a sudden influx of late-night cable repeats of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"...), Marilyn Monroe is somewhat in vogue. For instance, Andrew Dominik is working on an adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates' Monroe-centric novel "Blonde," with Naomi Watts. That's a few years off yet, as the director's first heading for crime thriller "Cogan's Trade," but another take on the legendary star has just wrapped in the UK -- "My Week With Marilyn."

In case you forgot, "Blue Valentine," the prickly relationship drama starring Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling, was recently slapped with an NC-17 rating by the MPAA much to the confusion of, well, everyone. While the MPAA keeps the reasons for their decisions secret, most believe it is due to a scene where the troubled couple, played by Williams and Gosling, have an argument in the midst of having sex. Yes, it's a very uncomfortable and bracing scene but certainly nothing risqué about it. Regardless, the notoriously sex-afraid, violence-happy MPAA got their knickers in a twist and gave the hardest rating they could against the film.

Amanda Seyfried, Blake Lively & Abbie Cornish Also In ContentionDo these names seem familiar? Yep, its the go-to crop of actresses that seem to circle every major project and you've probably seen them crop up as potential leads for Alfonso Cuaron's "Gravity" and Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel. So not really much of a surprise then that another high profile project, Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" now has these usual contenders being linked to the part of Daisy. If you had asked us to guess what names would be considered, these faces probably would've been right up there.
