Kill Your Darlings
While the traditional route for casting is to scan the trades and tracking boards and wait for something to pop, sometimes some well placed photographs can reveal more than the filmmakers had wanted. Welcome to 2014.

Jurassic World Chris Pratt
Twenty-one years ago yesterday, "Jurassic Park" was released in theaters. And one year from today the saga will continue: fourteen years from the last time that the dinosaurs from the Steven Spielberg/Michael Crichton franchise roamed the screen, they'll return in "Jurassic World," the long-awaited fourth film in the series. Directed by "Safety Not Guaranteed" director Colin Trevorrow, the film promises to be a semi-reboot of one of the biggest franchises around, with a new cast of characters returning to Isla Nubar, where a giant, and so far successful park has been built on the ashes of John Hammond's creation.

The 10 Best "Child" Performances Of 2013
The legendary W.C. Fields once said "never work with animals or children," but that advice thankfully has been broken time and time again, and especially in 2013, when younger thespians were able to truly show their chops (not to mention the cat performances from "Inside Llewyn Davis”). We wanted to highlight their contributions in a stand-alone feature, since so many of our favorite movies this year were enhanced and made real by younger performers.

The Kings Of Summer Nick Robinson
"Jurassic World" continues to cast up, and right now the focus seems to be grabbing rising young talent for the lead roles. Just yesterday, the production nabbed "Insidious" and "Iron Man 3" kid Ty Simpkins, and now another youthful actor with proven chops will get to run from dinosaurs too.

Sundance Review: Idiosyncratic & Hilarious ‘Toy’s House’ Heralds The Arrival Of A Fresh New Comic Voice

After the premiere screening of his wonderful debut feature “Toy’s House,” director Jordan Vogt-Roberts – responsible for the short “Successful Alcoholics” and a veteran of “Funny Or Die Presents…” – told the audience his influences for his first feature included early Amblin films like “The Goonies” with “elements of [Terrence] Malick,” and most surprisingly, “Bad Boys II.” The filmmaker had to clarify that he was not, in fact, joking about Michael Bay’s destruction opus, and his Twitter bio proves it (“Really into Michael Bay”). And so, from these wonderfully disparate influences we have “Toy’s House,” a crockpot of comedy and coming-of-age film without a trace of irony.
