Update: Oops, turns out that Stallone/Cage casting confirmation has been debunked by Deadline. Although produce Avi Lerner himself talked up Cage this summer. So, we'll see.

Well, we all just got Cage'd. Just when you though the career of Nicolas Cage couldn't possibly get more bizarre or outlandish, there comes this news, which confirms he's fully gone off the reservation or he needs a new agent.

Oh, Nicolas Cage. Just when it seemed he was putting paycheck gigs behind him by lining up movies with William Friedkin and David Gordon Green, along comes "Outcast" to remind is, that if a project crosses his desk and promises a fully stocked catering table, he'll probably do it.

"Never leave the cave!" Voiced by Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman, DreamWorks Animations' "The Croods" is the company's big animated family comedy of 2013. Directed by Chris Sanders (the filmmaker behind "How to Train Your Dragon" and the illustrator who created "Lilo & Stitch") and Kirk DeMicco (writer of "Space Chimps" and the upcoming "Hong Kong Phooey" adaptation), one can only assume that if the film takes off like they hope, franchise is in the cards (and when isn't it for the lucrative field of animation?).

It was announced today that Worldview Entertainment, the company behind the recently announced new films by Eli Roth and Ti West (as well as just-wrapped features by Atom Egoyan and Guillaume Canet), will also fund "Joe," the new film by "All the Real Girls"/"Pineapple Express" director David Gordon Green that stars Nicolas Cage. Production should begin in early November in the great state of Texas. Foreign buyers are being sought at the Toronto International Film Festival this week.

Of the tidal wave of animated films that are on the horizon (and trust us, there are a bunch), DreamWorks Animation's "The Croods" is one that is worth getting very excited about. Originally a stop-motion movie from "Wallace and Gromit" creators Aardman (when the studio still had a deal with DreamWorks), the movie (about a family of Neanderthals) is now in the capable hands of director Chris Sanders, who directed "Lilo & Stitch" for Disney Feature Animation before being kicked out of the Magic Kingdom when John Lasseter took over control of Disney's animated slate after Pixar was absorbed by the studio. The first photos from the spring release have emerged courtesy of Entertainment Weekly and, honestly, it looks like this stone age family is going to totally rock (sorry).

Another day, another trailer for a movie Nicolas Cage made over a weekend. Yesterday brought us "Stolen," Cage's "Taken"-in-a-taxi-cab movie, and today brings "Frozen Ground," with a rough/early spot leaking to the web, promising Vanessa Hudgens stripping and lots of glowering from Cage and his co-star John Cusack.

Like any successful distribution label should, Millennium Entertainment has accrued an instantly recognizable strain of action film with which their brand is linked, so when their logo pops up the trailer for their latest release “Stolen” -- and Jason Statham, Cuba Gooding Jr., or Clive Owen is nowhere in sight -- naturally there's only Nicolas Cage left to deliver the goods.
