With every new piece of info that emerges surrounding director Randall Miller's rock 'n' roll tribute “CBGB," the more the film simply certifies itself as having a brilliant casting director in Richard Pagano. After Alan Rickman, Malin Akerman and Rupert Grint all found unconventional but intriguing roles as various mainstays of the famous New York club, the production continues its streak of inspired choices by adding a talented musician, a sitcom star, and a period-drama actress, among others, to the list.

Okay, so the "Rum Diary" wasn't a big hit and frankly, wasn't a very good movie either. All the promise of a sun soaked Hunter S. Thompson surrogate in Johnny Depp was wasted with a narrative that went nowhere in a movie that is really only notable for Amber Heard looking great in it. But the music was pretty top shelf, and in fact, it seems to have been so good that a second soundtrack album is on the way.

Release Includes Score By Christopher Young, Plus Cuts From Dean Martin & Patti SmithHey, you know a movie that we keep forgetting is coming out soon? "The Rum Diary." The long-in-the-works adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's book, which sees Johnny Depp return to the part of the author, which he previously played in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," is slightly over two weeks from release, but, having skipped the festival circuit entirely (not a particularly good sign...), the publicity machine has been fairly quiet for Bruce Robinson's film, considering it stars the planet's biggest movie star.

Film Is Described As A Cross Between 'The Godfather' & CaravaggioLast year, it was reported by that Johnny Depp was starting work on a documentary about the legendary Keith Richards, one of his inspirations for Captain Jack Sparrow and current franchise co-star and total bud. Obviously, that sounds very exciting but speaking with EW recently, Depp reveals that the project has really just begun with more filming due to take place whenever he or Richards find time in their schedules.
