The last major additions to this year's Toronto International Film Festival have been unveiled, and unsurprisingly, along with the new world premieres, there's several films from the Venice line-up, which kicks off the week before. Along with the already announced "The Master" and "To The Wonder," Torontoites will also get to see Brian DePalma's "Passion" and Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers," both of which are set to bow on the Lido the week before.

So, will Brian De Palma's "Passion" be a long awaited return to form or another ambitious disappointment? Well, we'll still have to wait and see, but we'd be lying if we said that the images released thus far haven't been making us excited. And now you can add one more to the pile.

It was just a couple of weeks ago that we wondered if we were going to be seeing Terrence Malick's then-untitled romance starring (deep breath) Ben Affleck, Olga Kurylenko, Rachel McAdams, Rachel Weisz, Javier Bardem, Barry Pepper, Michael Sheen and Amanda Peet before the end of the year. And at the time, the answer was: who knew? The enigmatic director keeps to himself and likes to continually tinker, but with two more movies gearing up this year in the formerly titled "Lawless" and "Knight Of Cups," we hoped that meant this one was finally nearing the finish line. And it appears that's the case.

It looks like Rachel McAdams is going to continue the one-for-them-one-for-me approach. The actress has been oscillating between more indie minded/less commercial fare (relatively speaking) like "The Lucky Ones," "Midnight In Paris" (who would've predicted it would have been a smash hit?) and "State Of Play" and bigger/schlockier stuff like "Sherlock Holmes" and this year's "The Vow." But it looks like the actress is getting a bit more risky and frisky. She's currently lensing "Passion" with Brian De Palma and the provocative first image was unveiled recently, and it looks like the rest of her year will be dominated by a rom-com and a thriller.

With cameras rolling this spring on "Passion," Brian De Palma's first feature film in six years, there's no doubt it will be a hot item when it's repped at the Cannes marketplace, and certainly this first official image from the film will get people talking.

Since it seems like Brian De Palma has almost, sort-of, maybe, nearly been attached to dozens of projects over the past decade, anytime actual physical evidence surfaces of him making a movie, it’s reason for celebration. It’s enough to make you want to scream, “It’s really happening!” at the top of your lungs, annoying your coworkers and friends. But that’s what we just did when we saw these brand new behind-the-scenes set photos of Rachel McAdams, wearing a lovely pink number, on the set of De Palma’s new thriller “Passion."

The things that got us verklempt in the last week include the latest episode of “Downton Abbey” and the “Halftime in America” Chrysler ad with Clint Eastwood. Clearly, it doesn’t take much, but noticeably absent from that list is the would-be weepy “The Vow,” starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum. We even came prepared for tears, Boy Scout-style, with tissues in our pockets, but they’re still there, waiting to make a linty mess out of our laundry. The film isn’t as bad as what it looks like--the Chinatown knockoff equivalent of a Nicholas Sparks movie--but that doesn’t mean that those outside the target audience won’t find it a painful experience.

For Brian De Palma fanatics, it's been an agonizingly long wait for another sexy, stylish spellbinder. His last feature was 2007 incendiary "Redacted," which was a noble failure, but a failure just the same. Honestly, we can only watch our Criterion "Blow Out" Blu-rays so many times. Thankfully, word comes down from Anne Thompson that his new movie, "Passion," a loose remake of the recent French thriller "Love Crime," has picked up a cast member and set a date for principle photography.

Now most of the awards contenders have been unveiled, the major secrets left in the 2011 movie advent calendar are a few big, loud blockbusters that'll hit around Christmas; films like "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol," "The Darkest Hour," and, um, "Alvin & The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked." Will they be sweet, sugar-y goodness, or the cinematic equivalent of Billy Bob Thornton drunkenly eating the whole thing late at night, and then remorsefully filling it with candy corn and taping it up again?

Hey, @RottenTomatoes, a review (from @jessicakiang of @ThePlaylist) on the #OnlyGodForgives page is counted as negative when it's a B. Why?
