If "(500) Days of Summer" is bound to be considered this generation’s "Annie Hall" (not its equal, mind you, but its closest equivalent), then it’s fair to claim that "Celeste and Jesse Forever" follows in the footsteps of "When Harry Met Sally," picking up where that film ended and proceeding to chronicle similar ups and downs in a close friendship verging on – or, rather, retreating from – full-blown romance.

Rashida Jones made a pretty significant splash at this year’s Sundance, co-writing and starring alongside "Saturday Night Live" alum Andy Samberg in the romantic dramedy “Celeste and Jesse Forever.” We were among many who gave the film a pretty solid recommendation, calling it a “charming tale of romance and heartbreak in the vein of 'When Harry Met Sally,' ” which is probably about as a high of praise as possible for a film of this sort.

Breaking up is hard to do. It's even harder if your partner also happens to be your best friend, and that distinction forms the basis of "Celeste And Jesse Forever," the upcoming romantic comedy that takes a funny and dramatic look at the end of a relationship and what it takes to start over.

One of the biggest compliments one could give to the Apatow-era of comedy is the development of talent, often very young and unheralded, from all around the world. Take, for instance, the international ensemble for "Bridesmaids" which featured Americans (Melissa McCarthy, Ellie Kemper), Brits (Matt Lucas, Chris O'Dowd) and Australians (Rose Byrne, Rebel Wilson) side-by-side.

If you're an actor, and not getting the kind of roles you want (or indeed, any roles at all), the best way out is to create your own material. From Matt Damon and Ben Affleck to Brit Marling, legions of actors over the years have turned screenwriters, and seen their careers skyrocket as a result. And so it is with Rashida Jones and Will McCormack.

Even though the film received respectful, rather than rave, reviews on its Sundance bow (our own review was one of the more positive), you can't cast Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Mortimer, Rashida Jones, Steve Coogan, Hugh Dancy, T.J. Miller, Adam Scott and Kathryn Hahn in a comedy together without leaving us begging to see the finished film, and that's why we've been firmly looking forward to "Our Idiot Brother" all year long.

The cast members of "The Lord of the Rings" have had mixed success in the eight years since the franchise wrapped up. Viggo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom became fully-fledged movie stars (the latter less so in recent years), and Dominic Monaghan managed surprising longevity as a star of "Lost," but Sean Astin's mostly been stuck in Adam Sandler movies and one-off TV appearances, while we're pretty sure that Billy Boyd washed our windshield at a traffic light not so long ago.

Rashida Jones' rise in the comedy world after debuting on "The Office" a few years ago is definitely commendable. The daughter of music legend Quincy Jones (we're sure she loves hearing that) is a regular on NBC's "Parks And Recreation," has already starred in "I Love You, Man" and will soon be seen in "My Idiot Brother," "The Big Year" and "The Muppets." Jones starred recently in Dana Adam Shapiro's Brooklyn-based relationship drama "Monogamy" and will soon make her writing debut with "Celeste And Jesse Forever" which will see her star along side Andy Samberg.
