Joaquin Phoenix may come off as somewhat mercurial, perhaps even unapproachable, but his talent is unassailable, and it seems he forges strong creative connections. One need look no further than the four films he's made with James Gray, and now it looks like he's ready to re-up with his "The Master" director Paul Thomas Anderson.

It's a good morning to be a Los Angeles pharmacist, as, Hollywood is just this moment waking up with their worst hangover of the year. Yep, it's the morning after the Golden Globes, and what the Hollywood Foreign Press Association lacks in respect or prestige, it makes up for in free-flowing booze and raucous partying. And so long as you don't take it too seriously, it can make for pretty entertaining viewing, something proven last night.

First up, here's some trivia: Did you know that rapper T.I. was up for a part in "Iron Man 3"? "I was being considered for this one film," he told RapUp (via HitFix) "Now that it's over with, I can say it. 'Iron Man 3.' I was being considered for 'Iron Man 3' and it wasn't to be Iron Man, it was to be another character in the film but our schedules did not align and they had to do their little movie anyway...I told them go on ahead, I didn't want to get in their way." "It's not a serious movie, but we seriously dig into exploring more of Tony," Marvel honcho Kevin Feige recently said. But if these new pics are anything to go by, it's more like "Emo Man 3" than "Iron Man 3" amirite? And combined with the very furrowed brow trailer, we're wondering when wise-crackin' Tony Starks is going to show up.

Between comic book movies, tentpole blockbusters, and big name comedies, it's easy to forget that Robert Downey Jr. has other projects that don't have the Marvel stamp, require him to bromance with Jude Law, or laugh it up with Todd Phillips. And one of those gigs is "The Judge," announced this spring. But of course, being RDJ, a big name is being sought to share the screen with him.

For all the endless op-eds about the superiority of film vs. TV, there's one front on which cinema has already conceded the war to another medium; financially, to video games. The interactive entertainment industry has, for several years now, consistently outgrossed the movies, with big games regularly outperforming their cinematic equivalents in money terms. As such, it's no surprise that games-makers have the funds to attract Hollywood talent to them more and more, even if it's just to lend their names or faces to a commercial for a bit of prestige.

After sketchy set photos and first look images that teased rather than revealed, with the first trailer set to hit tomorrow, a fresh batch of new images from "Iron Man 3" have arrived promising both action and romance, just as the fans expect. And as Marvel honcho Kevin Feige explains, Tony Stark will be facing his gravest threat yet.

The trailer for Disney/Marvel's "Iron Man 3" debuts in mere days (Tuesday, October 23), which means, of course, something has to hit first, and that something is a teaser trailer, or perhaps more accurately, a 17-second trailer for the trailer. It doesn't reveal much, though it does show Pepper Potts in pain, potentially being tortured, which we suppose means she's finally part of the storyline in a more significant way. It also shows Tony Stark's latest Iron Man armor (mark 7? It's hard to keep up). The "Iron Man 3" synopsis was released late last week and it's as vague as humanly possible: Tony Stark is challenged, has to face secrets that have haunted him all along, blah, blah, etc. etc. Here it is if you're curious.

Marvel Studios, and in particular the “Iron Man” franchise, have a long and storied history with Comic-Con and Hall H. Nearly all of their films have had a presence at the show, oftentimes debuting footage shot only days before the convention. “Captain America” famously debuted an impressively polished reel two years ago after only one week of shooting.
