Filmmaker Spike Jonze is apparently not content to just settle for the most talented cast in Hollywood to join his next film. Evidently he wants the most beautiful one as well. In a Deadline report about Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions landing international rights from for Jonze's next untitled project, the trade drops the little nugget of info that Olivia Wilde has also joined the cast.

After a busy week, you'll excuse Rooney Mara's agents if they turn off their cell phones and have a much earned nap. In the last few days the actress has signed on to replace Carey Mulligan in Spike Jonze's upcoming film, and taken a lead role in the upcoming adaptation of Colm Toibin's "Brooklyn." And now to close off the week, she's landed another gig that will see her star opposite two of our favorite actors.

And the hits just keep on coming for Rooney Mara. Just a day after she signed up for a role in Spike Jonze's untitled upcoming movie, she's now landed another project that will find the actress at the front and center of a big league book adaptation.

As far as switcheroos go, director Spike Jonze can't really complain as his upcoming untitled effort has lost one hot young actress, only to be replaced by another.

Steven Soderbergh's "The Bitter Pill" is now rolling in front of cameras and it looks like the girl with the dragon tattoo is now the girl with a new haircut (or wig). Rooney Mara has been snapped walking around the New York City set with some new brunette-ish locks, and combined with a frumpy trench coat, it's a far cry from her previous Hot Topic look.

With the dude from Neon Indian popping up in a recent set photo, and Malick having lensed indie friendly folks like Arcade Fire, Iron & Wine and Fleet Foxes last year during pre-production at Austin City Limits, it seemed like his upcoming "Lawless" was shaping up to be some kind of "The Tree Of Life: Pitchfork Edition." But a fascinating, oddball development makes this movie continue to be a total headscratcher.

While the film portion of SXSW might be over, this weekend in Austin a plethora of bands are vying for attention in the clubs and streets of the city for the music portion of the festival. And it appears Terrence Malick was on hand as well.

Vanity Fair loves the ladies. For their annual Hollywood issue the magazine has once again gone with hot young things for their cover, making it three straight years the boys have left off from strutting their stuff (excluding the 2009 issue which for some reason had Barack Obama fronting the issue). But also as usual, it's hard to argue with their choices for the most part with Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence selected for the cover.

In just over a year, Rooney Mara has gone from the virtually unknown star of the disastrous remake of "Nightmare On Elm Street" to an Oscar nominee. The missing link: her brief, head-turning appearance in David Fincher's "The Social Network," a performance that helped win her the lead role of Lisbeth Salander in the director's English-language take on "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo." But with a hectic schedule, and busy promotional commitments for that film, the actress has taken her time choosing her follow-up.

Well, that was quick. Just one week after announcing it had signed on with Open Road, the distributors of the film, to co-finance Steven Soderbergh’s psychological thriller, “Side Effects,” Megan Ellison’s Annapurna pictures has backed out of the project (however, Open Road is staying put to distribute the film). But it's not all gloom and doom for "Side Effects," though, as Soderbergh's "Traffic" co-star Catherine Zeta-Jones has just signed onto the project (via Deadline).
