Premiering at Sundance earlier this year, "Touchy Feely" was a movie that didn't quite connect with us (read our review). That being said, this new trailer for the movie reminded our reviewer of the great moments contained within, and this cast is certainly worth seeing in any movie, no matter what.

There's a strange and opaque energy coursing through the veins of Lynn Shelton's languid fifth feature-length effort, "Touchy Feely." It's a little mysterious, to the film’s moody credit, and it’s a little unavailable and removed, to its detriment. Lead actress Rosemarie DeWitt admitted, "I didn't really understand the character when I read the script," in the post Sundance Q&A. "But then I told her I didn't understand her either," Shelton explained. And not only does this sentiment ring true, it’s this mild inscrutableness that muddies this often compelling, occasionally sublime, but ultimately uneven family drama about energy, connections (missed or otherwise) and healing.

If the narrative of the modern-day salesman in fiction is that of a man who believes in his business but finds his faith shaken once the white lies of his trade begin to grow, a man who loses his moral compass and finds himself along the way, then “Promised Land" doesn’t stray far from that mold. And at the crossroads of America, if big business represents greed, well then small-town communities must clearly represent strength and resolve.

So here's the pitch: a massage therapist develops an aversion to bodily contact. Hilarity right? You might think that, as it's from Lynn Shelton, the writer/director behind "Humpday" and "Your Sister's Sister." But as the helmer tells EW, her latest "Touchy Feely" marks a bit of a change. ”It doesn’t have this rollicky, bantering feel that my last couple films have had,” she says. “It definitely has laughs, but it really is a drama. It’s really about attempting to live in your own skin, both literally and metaphorically.”

This week sees the release of Andrew Dominik's "Killing Them Softly," a gripping little crime movie than threatens to be one of The Playlist's highlights of 2012. And among its many pleasures is the chance to see some character actor favorites like James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta, and newer up-and-comers like Scoot McNairy and Ben Mendelsohn given substantial roles to chew on. Best of all is a major role for the incomparably great Richard Jenkins.

This summer, Aaron Sorkin dropped his highly anticiapted HBO series "The Newsroom," and to quote Brian Williams: "That happened." Unabashedly and at times embarassingly preachy, it was also tremendously compelling as uneven as it was, becoming the show many loved to hate to watch. But HBO has faith Sorkin and co. can turn it around, renewing it for a second season, and some new faces are coming along to possibly irritate the hell out of you.

Martine (Olivia Thirlby), a 23-year-old New York artist arrives in LA to complete a short film for an upcoming exhibit. We see her embracing a lover in the airport parking lot and just before things get too carried away, she puts on the brakes and tells him that it was nice meeting him on the plane. This girl is going to be trouble. The opening credits roll as Martine makes her way from the airport, gazing out the window to take everything in as the city rushes by. With a synthy score by Brooklyn duo Fall On Your Sword (who also scored last year’s Sundance hit “Another Earth” as well as director Ry Russo-Young’s first film “You Won’t Miss Me”), LA seems really cool. Coming from the confined apartments and gray skies of NYC (in the winter anyway) the wide open spaces of the west coast start to look really attractive.

Just as night follows day, so trailers generally follow posters, and hot on the heels of our exclusive premiere of the one-sheet for Ry Russo-Young's acclaimed Sundance hit "Nobody Walks" yesterday, Apple have premiered the first trailer for the film. And it looks pretty good, all in all. Co-written by "Girls" sensation Lena Dunham, the film follows Martine, a 23-year-old artist from New York City, who stays in the pool house of a Los Angeles family to complete work on her art film. But the characters' worlds are quickly upheaved as lust, desire and deception come creeping into the seemingly idyllic setting.

With a script co-written by the quickly rising Lena Dunham, directed by Ry Russo-Young ("You Won’t Miss Me") and featuring a pretty great cast including Olivia Thirlby, John Krasinski, Rosemarie DeWitt and Justin Kirk, there are a lot of reasons for the low key indie "Nobody Walks" to land on your radar.

Premiering at TIFF last fall, unspooling at the Tribeca Film Festival which kicks off today and headed into theaters later this spring, if you're eager to see "Your Sister's Sister," the latest from "Humpday" director Lynn Shelton, you might actually want to stop reading now and not bother with the trailer as it pretty much gives up the entire story.
