Which do you want first, the good news or the bad news? Let's start with the bad first. The new international trailer for Warner Bros.' "Gangster Squad" has arrived and it is an entire minute shorter than the two and a half minute original trailer and offers almost zero new footage, but hey, it's "new." The good news however, is that Empire Magazine has some fresh photos from the film which you can see below.

Nicolas Winding Refn has never been busier. Busy in post on "Only God Forgives," with a number of projects in the works including "I Walk With The Dead" with Carey Mulligan; producing a prequel to "Maniac Cop"; looking at "The Button Man" to direct and bringing "Barbarella" to the small screen, Refn continues to quickly move forward, but thankfully, someone has slowed him down just enough, to take a long look at where he's been.

As if Ryan Gosling couldn't melt vaginas and man-boners are more than he already does, here's a video proving at 10 years old, he was still a stud.

While that rumored appearance at Cannes never happened (and given the mixed reception to the similar period shoot-em-up "Lawless," perhaps it was  a good move), the buzz is starting to build on Warner Bros' "Gangster Squad." A trailer landed a few weeks back, and soon after it was given a September 7th release date, where it'll compete directly with John Hillcoat's film for the late summer/early fall audience that saw films like "The Town" and "Contagion" become hits in the last few years.

Despite having ceded its release date to a fellow Warner Bros. film, "Argo," it appears the studio has not given up on its drama "Gangster Squad." Directed by Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland," "30 Minutes Or Less") and featuring the all-star cast of Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Nick Nolte, Robert Patrick, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie, Emma Stone and a prosethtic-laden Sean Penn, a trailer has just arrived, likely ensuring the picture will arrive in 2012 after all. When? Well, that would be a question that won't be answered yet.

One film that was a bit of a question mark before the Cannes Film Festival unveiled their slate last week was Derek Cianfrance's "The Place Beyond The Pines." The generational drama led by Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper was rumored to be one of the films announced, but as we know, that didn't quite happen. But it does seem the movie is near enough to the finish line that release dates are starting to appear....at least overseas.

Pairing up hot young things Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in a movie together is a no brainer, and Warner Bros. has done it twice already, first with last summer's hit comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and then in the upcoming (and now undated) "Gangster Squad." And if 'Crazy' directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa get their way, the studio will once again reunite the duo.

There's been glimpses here and there from paparazzi pics and, of course, the first official image of Josh Brolin and Sean Penn squaring off but we now have our first look at the titular "Gangster Squad" in "Zombieland" and "30 Minutes Or Less" director Ruben Fleischer's L.A.-set noir flick.

We can't say we were aware of the fact before, but it turns out that Bret Easton Ellis is quite the movie fan. His Twitter followers have, of late, been treated to streams of updates on the author's opinions of all the latest releases, with a little Oscar prognostication thrown in for good measure. We can't say we agree with all his opinions entirely, but it's certainly been entertaining, and we hope it continues.

The concept behind "Drunk History" is beautiful in its simplicity. Get a comedian stinking drunk, get them to tell a slurred, jumbled version of a historical event, and then film a reconstruction of those events, full of movie-stars lip-syncing to the pissed-up narrator's words. Michael Cera, Don Cheadle, Zooey Deschanel and Will Ferrell number among the A-listers who've featured so far in the series, which is one of Funny or Die's most successful ongoing clips.
