Last night, Ryan Reynolds may have said he's reached his super hero film quota with "Green Lantern" already completed and "Deadpool," plus the genre-y graphic novel, "R.I.P.D.," but he may be getting ahead of himself, since none of these pictures has been released. We've been pretty skeptical of "Green Lantern" so far, and more importantly, so has the vocal movie geek community who the movie is aimed at. Early trailers looked like lame SyFy channel tele-movies and even Warner Bros. admitted that all the early footage was weak.

Ryan Reynolds is no stranger to playing a superhero. As Deadpool he was the best part of the otherwise wretched "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," he's Hal Jordan in the upcoming "Green Lantern" and he was the imaginary Captain Excellent in "Paper Man." And while he's not quite a superhero in "Turbo," a freak accident still gives his character an enormous ability.

So after what feels like multiple attempts at becoming a superhero -- he was originally pegged to play "The Flash," in its first development iteration -- Ryan Reynolds will finally become a man in tights on June 17 when "Green Lantern" hits screens. But what about the super villain role he already played in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," and its intended spin-off film, "Deadpool," aka the merc with the mouth over at 20th Century Fox?

So, does this mean Ryan Reynolds won't be starring in "Deadpool"? Let's back up for a second. Comedian Zach Galifianakis is in talks to join Reynolds in "R.I.P.D.," an adaptation of the Dark Horse comic book about a pair of deceased detectives, one a recently murdered cop, the other a gunslinger from the Old West. Robert Schwentke ("Red," "The Time Traveler's Wife," "Flightplan") has been attached to direct since last fall.

Ryan Reynolds can hardly believe it...he's in a movie with Jason Bateman. OK, we're being a bit silly, but you'll understand the look on his face once you dig on the premise for "The Change-Up."

Panamanian renaissance man (actor, musician, politician) Rubén Blades has joined the cast of "Safe House" already staring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds. Tim McGraw and Nora Arnezeder — probably best known to American auds for her turn in “Paris 36” — are also said to have roles in the film. A thriller set up over at Universal, the film centers on a junior field officer (Reynolds) who operates a CIA-run safe house in Rio De Janeiro that must help a rogue ex-agent (Washington) escape assassins who want intelligence that he won’t sell them.

David O. Russell Confirms Hathaway's Early Talks In 'Silver Linings,' But Nothing Is Set In Stone YetAnne Hathaway has had a pretty good year, all in all. Considering that her last two films before then were the virtually unseen thriller "Passengers" and the rightfully reviled "Bride Wars," memories of her Oscar-nominated turn in "Rachel Getting Married" and her lead in the comedy megahit "The Devil Wears Prada" were beginning to fade. But she's started off the year by being more or less the best thing in the otherwise awful (but, importantly, commercially successful) "Valentine's Day," appeared in the billion-dollar "Alice in Wonderland," and topped it off with an excellent performance in the better-than-you'd-imagine "Love and Other Drugs."

So, we were jawing around the Playlist watercooler today about how with three high profile comic book movies set to hit next year -- "Thor," "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Green Lantern" -- they can't all be mega hits. We figure at least one of the them will under-perform, and while the early footage of "Thor" that was leaked and subsequently pulled this summer was pretty goofy, the hyped Ryan Reynolds vehicle "Green Lantern" pic has its own share of problems.
