Alex de la Iglesia’s “As Luck Would Have It” features, in supporting roles, Salma Hayek and Carolina Bang, two of the most ravishing and talented Spanish language actresses to ever grace the screen. Most viewers are well aware of Ms. Hayek, who has aged gracefully into Hollywood’s demeaning mother-ghetto for actresses over the age of 35. Few know of Ms. Bang, who was the centerpiece of de la Iglesia’s last film, the criminally-insane “The Last Circus.” Both command the screen with old school Hollywood glamour and mature sexuality, and yet neither manages to obscure the machinations of de la Iglesia’s sharp media satire. This, as Queen once sang long ago, is a kind of magic.

Last year's "Shrek Forever After" was billed as the "final chapter" in the DreamWorks fairytale franchise, but with the four films grossing nearly $3 billion worldwide between them ("Shrek 2" remains the fifth biggest domestic grosser), the likelihood of Katzenberg & Co leaving the series alone was minimal. And so, barely 18 months after the fourth "Shrek," we'll see "Puss In Boots," a spin-off focusing on the Zorro-esque kitty voiced by Antonio Banderas in the second, third and fourth films.

It's always said that when it comes to breaking into the film industry, it's not what you know, but who you know, and it's hard to deny that nepotism is rife in the industry. But when it's meant that talents like Sofia Coppola, Nicolas Cage, Peter Fonda, Drew Barrymore, John Huston and, uh, Clint Howard, to name but a few, it's hard to complain too much. Today we've obtained an exclusive first image of a project that utilizes a number of members of famous filmmaking families, and it's looking pretty promising.

The allure of the tentpole has snatched Oscar-nominee Jennifer Lawrence into tween fandom and out of a much more interesting (though less lucrative) project. Deadline reveals -- and recent reports have hinted -- that Jennifer Lawrence has dropped out of Oliver Stone's drug cartel thriller "Savages." However, a host of new names have popped up for the film as it moves toward its summer production start.

Salma Hayek has been floundering a bit in Hollywood lately. Last summer she had a thankless role in the dreadful "Grown Ups" and prior to that she starred in a number of films that ended up being non-starters such as "Cirque Du Freak," "Lonely Hearts" and "Ask The Dust." So, we can't say we're too surprised that she's going abroad for her next film role.
