It looks like Sandra Bullock has left her rom-com days far behind her and it isn't eager to return to them. This year alone she's shaking things up with fully R-rated action comedy with "The Heat," and this fall she goes sci-fi, all alone in space, in Alfonso Cuaron's "Gravity." And for her next move, she's just gonna be flat out mean...to a little kid even! We've come a long way since "The Blind Side"....

Gravity, Sandra Bullock (skip)
Perhaps a recap of the journey we've been on with "Gravity" is in order. Hell, just getting a cast in order is a story itself with Robert Downey Jr. and Angelina Jolie attached at various points, and after the latter left, a frantic search geared up to find a replacement for take the lead with Naomi Watts, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Marion Cotillard, Carey Mulligan, Sienna Miller, Abbie Cornish, Rebecca Hall, Olivia Wilde and Blake Lively all being rumored/considered/wishlisted before Sandra Bullock signed on, followed shortly by George Clooney.

We've waited. And waited, and waited and waited, patiently enduring release date delays, hoping for footage to appear or even an official still from the movie to arrive, only to be forever left in the cold. But Warner Bros, finally Alfonso Cuaron's "Gravity" is to be released this fall, knows they have a captive audience, hence the teasing before the trailer drops tomorrow. We've already seen a few seconds of actual material from the movie and now comes the first poster to keep the excitement from boiling over.

Gravity trailer, Clooney
Alfonso Cuarón's long-awaited follow-up to 2006's "Children of Men"is finally here. Or at least the trailer is. Or wait, that's coming Thursday. So what do we have in the meantime? Well, it's about 10 seconds or less of teaser footage from the upcoming trailer for "Gravity," Cuarón's outer space thriller starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. Yes, you hate the tease of a tease. Understandably, so do we. But admittedly, this film has been in the works for so long now it is somewhat of a relief to finally see some evidence that it finally and actually exists.

If you were too busy last night watching "Game Of Thrones" and "Mad Men," you likely missed the onslaught of teasers and clips from the MTV Movie Awards. "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," "Man Of Steel," "Star Trek Into Darkness" and "Iron Man 3" were all out in force, but not everything previewed was a special effects blockbuster.

Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy in The Heat
Everyone loves Melissa McCarthy. With a massive hit under her belt already in 2013 thanks to "Identity Thief" (which has remarkably earned over $130 million at the box office), and having hosted "Saturday Night Live" to some acclaim recently, the actress is looking to ride that momentum into "The Heat" this summer. It's a cop comedy but perhaps unlike one we've seen before with McCarthy pairing up with none other than Sandra Bullock and the first clip from the movie has arrived.

The recent Oscars, it should be said, were not a headline year for the Best Actress race. Of course Emmanuelle Riva, Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence et al were thoroughly deserving of their nominations, but the category was generally deemed to be a bit thin by Oscar watchers, with something of a dearth of good female roles, bar the five that were nominated (plus a handful of others overlooked by the Academy, like Marion Cotillard in "Rust and Bone" and Emayatzy Corinealdi in "Middle of Nowhere").

There will be a lot of awards handed out tonight at the Oscars, but one you won't see is for Best Handjob. But luckily, the folks at Funny Or Die have managed to give out the honor themselves, and believe it or not, happy endings featured in more than a few movies this year.
