Sarah Gadon knows a thing or two about freaky movies. A favorite of the Cronenberg brood -- she starred in David's "A Dangerous Method" and "Cosmopolis" and is slated to star in his next effort "Maps To The Stars" while she also featured in Brandon's "Antiviral" -- the actress is on her way up, and now has a franchise movie to call her own.

We have to admit, we were kinda worried. Last month, Rachel Weisz dropped out of David Cronenberg's brewing "Maps To The Stars," the project that would reteam him with his "Cosmopolis" lead Robert Pattinson. The plan was to shoot the movie next month, but with Cronenberg recently taking a role in "I Am Love" helmer Luca Guadagnino's adaptation of Don DeLillo's novel "The Body Artist," lensing this summer, we wondered about the status of 'Maps.' Turns out, we have nothing to worry about.

"Cosmopolis," an adaptation of Don DeLillo’s typically provocative novel of the same name, is the first feature film since 1999's "eXistenZ" that filmmaker David Cronenberg has directed and scripted. This in part explains why "Cosmopolis" is such a triumph: it’s both an exceptional adaptation and a remarkable work unto itself.

Everything we've seen so far of Brandon Cronenberg's "Antiviral" has promised a leaf out of his father's book and, based on early positive word from the Croisette, it looks like Cronenberg Jr. has definitely delivered. We now have a the first clip from the picture, which sees the young helmer turn up the creep levels a few notches with his lead Caleb Landry Jones, who played Banshee in Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class."

There is no doubt that no matter what Brandon Cronenberg decided to make as his first movie, the shadow of his father would loom large. So whether it just runs in the family, or if it was a calculated decision to do something audiences would expect from the Cronenberg mantle, full credit to Brandon for taking body horror to the next level with "Antiviral." While hardly perfect, it delivers the freak fest fans of David have been missing for the past few years while establishing Brandon as a filmmaker with a bright future.

Quentin Tarantino and Steve McQueen dared to tackle race and slavery with their latest projects, "Django Unchained" and "Twelve Years A Slave," and it looks like they've now paved the way for other filmmakers to follow suit. One such example is British helmer Amma Asante who's set to adapt the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle -- a half-black illegitimate daughter of renowned Admiral Sir John Lindsay, eventually taken in and raised as an aristocratic lady in 18th Century England by Lindsay's uncle William Murray, the Earl of Mansfield.

As we know, Robert Pattinson is looking to stretch his wings beyond Edward in the "Twilight" series. Yesterday he signed on to hunt Saddam Hussein in "Mission: Blacklist" but before that gets rolling, the actor will show off this chops in David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis." And we now have a better idea of what we can expect from that film.

After the rather staid costume drama of "A Dangerous Method," a film that failed to embrace the kink promised in the premise of an sado-masochistic affair between Jung and a former patient, many started to wonder: had David Cronenberg gone soft? The filmmaker has been steadily moving into more mainstream territory, but generally managed to keep a little of the transgressiveness that made his name with films from "The Brood" to "Crash." But with the Keira Knightley/Michael Fassbender drama? Not so much.
