Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Okay, so "Captain America 3" is officially a thing with directors Anthony and Joe Russo back to direct, but first, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" will have to hit theaters. This weekend is a big one for the Marvel movie, with a Super Bowl spot planned to roll out on Sunday, but until then: promotional material!

Under The Skin
While it might seem like nothing but sequels and blockbusters on the horizon, this spring, a film is arriving that is intellectually satisfying, completely riveting and an undeniably unique piece of work. We're talking about "Under The Skin," and after some new pics earlier this week, a terrific red band teaser trailer is here, cut by Jonathan Glazer himself.

Scarlett Johansson's Banned Super Bowl Ad
On the surface, a movie about an alien coming to Earth, hiding among us and harvesting human bodies seems familiar and perhaps even predictable. But not when it's in the hands of Jonathan Glazer. To truly capture the experience of a creature from another realm, operating openly among humans, he largely shot many sequences in the Scarlett Johansson starring-film with non-professional actors, sometimes guerrilla style, with multiple cameras hidden, but on the move.

Her, Joaquin Phoenix
A number of enviable technological advances—at least on the surface—exist in Spike Jonze’s “Her," but for those who’ve seen the film they’d likely be traded for a standalone release of Arcade Fire’s wonderful score. Also featuring contributions from Owen Pallett and Karen O, the soundtrack has yet to be given a concrete release date, however until one emerges we’ve got a new trailer showcasing Arcade Fire’s stunning work, a fun easter egg from Jonze’s film for LA residents, and much more.

A24 Release Dates Under The Skin Enemy Locke
While many modern cinephiles are going gaga for adventurous producers like Annapurna Pictures ("Zero Dark Thirty," "The Master," "Her," "American Hustle" to name a few), there's also another game in town that's quietly building up an impressive roster. Barely a year old, indie distribution company A24 has made quite a name for itself in the last year for acquiring domestic rights to auteur-driven indie fare such as Sally Potter's "Ginger & Rosa," Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers," Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring," and James Ponsoldt's "The Spectacular Now" (some of our favorite films of the past year).

Captain America: The Winter Solider
A New Year means a new promotional cycle begins for Marvel, and heading into 2014, the comic studio have got three big movies on their slate: "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," "Guardians Of The Galaxy" and in case you forgot, Disney's animated "Big Hero 6." So there isn't a moment to lose.

Her, Spike Jonze, Joaquin Phoenix
While you’ve probably heard it described in simple ways, Spike Jonze’s “Her” is much, much more than the iPhone movie about falling love with Siri. And it’s hardly a film about technology and our future – though that obviously is an element. In many ways, "Her" is a traditional love story and relationship movie, but finds an ambitious concept to explore notions of connection, isolation, loneliness and loss.

Her, Joaquin Phoenix
Is social media anti-social? Has the information age divided us as much as it has been meant to unite? Is peer-to-peer simply an ironic term or are inter-personal, face-time relationships ripe for redefinition? While these are not the primary concerns of Spike Jonze’s lovely and perceptive relationship drama, “Her,” such implications are impossible to ignore in a movie that uses innovative and unconventional methods to explore some very universal anxieties.

Her, Spike Jonze, Joaquin Phoenix
"An emotionally involving and wonderfully layered look at our desire to reach out and connect," Yep, that's us quoted in the trailer for Spike Jonze's upcoming sci-fi-ish romance drama, "Her" (much to our surprise). The Golden Globes might have disqualified Scarlett Johansson for being awards-eligible because the actress doesn't appear once on screen (just her disembodied voice), but those of us in the know know that's kind of shortsighted BS.

Rome Film Festival Awards: Scarlett Johansson Wins For Voice Role In 'Her,' Matthew McConaughey For ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ & More

Dallas Buyer's Club Matthew McConaughey
While the bearing it has on the stateside awards season race is fairly minimal at the end of the day, you can bet the folks over at Warner Bros. and Focus Features are very happy with the news they received over the weekend and will be adjusting their campaigns accordingly. Read More »
