Yes, we know. It's hasn't even been 24 hours since we last weighed in on the whole "Kristen Wiig isn't doing a 'Bridesmaids' sequel" revelation, but in never-ending conversation, no one has really talked about what she's actually doing next. However, Vulture now report that while the actress definitely has no intention of doing a sequel to the 2011 box office hit, her only project for 2012 so far is joining Sean Penn and Robert De Niro for "The Comedian," with shooting planned to take place during her 'SNL' hiatus, begining in June.

At this point in time, it feels like Sundance is still months away, but actually, it's only a matter of a few weeks, and once Christmas and New Year are out of the way, we'll practically be there. Most of the line-up's been announced already, and off the top of our heads, it's the most promising that Park City has seen in quite some time. But it's not quite done, with the festival announcing four new features added at the last minute, bringing the total up to 117 full-length films, from thirty different countries.

With a ridiculously stacked cast including Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Anthony Mackie, Nick Nolte, Michael Pena, Giovanni Ribisi and many more, in many ways this will be a big test test for "Zombieland" and "30 Minutes Or Less" director Ruben Fleischer. Working with a top shelf ensemble on a period picture, this is a number of firsts for the director, but as he tells EW (who has the first official still from the movie) that was what made it exciting for him.

It looks like the wheels are turning on the next film by Alejandro González Iñárritu. Late this summer it was announced the helmer behind “Amores Perros,” “21 Grams,” “Babel” and "Biutiful" was setting up his next picture, "The Revenant." Well, it now has backing and two major Hollywood stars are now looking to star.

"The Comedian" with Robert De Niro has been knocking around for most of the year, with updates coming in fits and starts but nothing ever seeming quite official. But with the American Film Market launching next week, a plethora of projects are beginning to be put together to shill to producers, investors and other industry folks, and this is easily the most tantalizing.

Ah, selective quoting: it's a great way to stir up a beehive as Richard Brody from the New Yorker did this weekend when he cherry picked a comment Sean Penn made in a recent interview with French paper Le Figaro where he seemingly threw Terrence Malick's "The Tree Of Life" under the bus.

"Snow White and the Huntsmen" seems to have all the buzz, adding multiple actors as the dwarves in separate announcements over the past few days. By increasing the film's pre-production profile, the picture vaulted over the surprisingly buzzless untitled "Snow White" film currently shooting under director Tarsem Singh, and slated for a release almost three months earlier. While the film boasts Julia Roberts as the wicked queen menacing Lily Collins as our heroine, Armie Hammer as the dashing Prince Alcott and Nathan Lane as the oh god stop right there you're sold on Lane. Fortunately, it does appear that the Singh project will have that extra shot of awesomeness that 'Huntsman' cannot boast.

Before we begin, let's just say that the discourse of films can be varied and fascinating, with many critics and academic writers offering their measured takes on everything from the new "Transformers" film to "The Tree of Life." We would like to urge you to find these discussions that are actively going on at various websites and are likely more fruitful than hearing the opinion of a crackpot provocateur like Uwe Boll.

We have to admit, when we first heard about "The Comedian" with Robert De Niro attached and the project being spun as a possible reteam with Martin Scorsese, we didn't give it much thought. With the project sounding similar in tone to "The King of Comedy" and just the overall scarcity of info, it seemed more rumor than fact, but the project seems to be very real with a few more bits of info coming today.

Update: Jamie Foxx & Tom Hanks Courted For Project, Although Unlikely To End Up In FilmGod damn if Ruben Fleischer doesn't keep finding new ways to makes us excited about "Gangster Squad." The "Zombieland" director is moving into more serious territory with Warner Brothers' big-budget period actioner, and has assembled a mouth-watering cast of awards bait, with Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling and "Crash" star Michael Peña all confirmed for the film, written by ex-cop Will Beall, based on a series of L.A. Times articles about an L.A.P.D unit in the 1940s.
