Jonathan Levine Seth Rogen Joseph Gordon-Levitt 50/50
If one thing has marked the majority of Jonathan Levine's films to date, it's been a desire to blend genres. From the stoner comedy/coming-of-age tale "The Wackness," to the zombie rom-com "Warm Bodies," the cancer drama/buddy laffer "50/50," Levine doesn't like to take the path already traveled. And he's reteaming with the stars from the latter film to take on the holiday season.

The Disaster Artist James Franco
There are movies that are bad, and then there's "The Room." Like a modern day "Plan 9 From Outer Space," Tommy Wiseau's 2003 passion project went from horribly reviewed, self-released indie to something of a contemporary cult classic, with the movie still screening frequently, often with audience participation encouraged with everyone shouting out memorable lines ("You are tearing me apart, Lisa!") and throwing spoons at the screen (if you've seen it, you know what that means). And now, "The Room" is getting a touch of James Franco.

Preacher Seth Rogen Evan Goldberg
Since this humble little blog emerged into existence, we've been reporting in fits and starts on the tortured development of "Preacher." The Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon comic has been through sixteen years of ever changing development, as the project has gone from being a movie, to a TV series, and back and forth, while no shortage of names both in front and behind the camera tried to get it going including Sam Mendes, Darren Aronofsky, Joe Carnahan, D.J. Caruso, Chris Pine, Shia LaBeouf and Alex Pettyfer. But now, it's actually happening for real with an unlikely duo taking it on.

Riding high from the Sundance Film Festival off strong notices for her performance in "Camp X-Ray," Kristen Stewart isn't wasting a moment. The actress has lined up a new project, one that will see her working alongside a pretty solid cast of players.

Zac Efron, Neighbors
What happens when one grown man and another slightly grown man can't along when they live next door to each other? Hijinks, and lots of it, if this new trailer for "Neighbors" is anything to go by.

Making A Scene Cate Blanchett
When Janusz Kaminski isn’t lensing his often Oscar-nominated work on a batch of Steven Spielberg’s finest films, including “Schindler’s List," “Saving Private Ryan," and most recently “Lincoln," the cinematographer also occasionally settles into the director’s chair. Three films (including the underwhelming Winona Ryder horror “Lost Souls”) and a TV episode of “The Event” have allowed Kaminski full cinematic reign so far, and just as Canon performed with their own short film campaign this month that found actors at the helm, the NY Times have created their own — and allowed Kaminski 11 unique vignettes within which to work.

Last week, Kanye West unveiled his awesome/strange/terrible/kind of great video for "Bound 2" from his latest album Yeezus. Combining hilariously (ironic?) images of Americana—horses! mountains!—it mostly was an excuse for Ye to straddle a topless Kim Kardashian on a motorcycle. And inevitably, a parody has arrived.

An adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's comic "Preacher" has been to the pulpit a few times over the years. Sam Mendes, Darren Aronofsky and Joe Carnahan have all been involved and/or rumored at various points, and most recently, D.J. Caruso had talked up a version that had Chris Pine, Shia LaBeouf and Alex Pettyfer interested in the roles of Jesse, Arseface and the Saint Of Killers respectively. And before all of this, HBO had been developing a TV take on the material but wound up passing way back in 2008. But now it looks like one of their rivals is going to take a stab at it.

World War Z
By now, we all pretty much know about the struggles the filmmakers had while making “World War Z.” In spite of the fact that the film actually turned out to be a major success, initial reports of its “inevitable failure” hit everyone involved with the film pretty hard. The Hollywood Reporter has a very interesting piece about Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B (who made the film). The article goes into how criticism of the production of "World War Z" affected the producers involved, mentally, and they delve into how the surprise success of the film, along with the positive festival response of “12 Years a Slave” has left the company feeling pretty good about themselves.

Way back when in 2010, we revealed that Seth Rogen was planning a flick called “Sausage Party,” (then called "Sausage Fest") and while that sounds like the kind of thing Seth Rogen just says, it has become clear that “Sausage Party” was more than an idle fancy over the past couple of years. It has a concept—it's an R-rated animated movie about a talking sausage who, with his other supermarket produce buddies, has to get back onto the shelves before Independence Day's BBQs hit—and it has actors—the voices of Rogen, frequent collaborator Jonah Hill and long-time voice actor Conrad Vernon. What it didn't have was the funding to give it the go-ahead...
