Even though we had our issues with it, if you're at home on the night of Saturday, October 20th, tune in to HBO at 9 p.m. for "The Girl," if only to show Toby Jones some love. Once again the excellent actor -- who saw his portrayal of Truman Capote in "Infamous" outshined by Philip Seymour Hoffman's turn in "Capote" -- is getting usurped. This time it's by Anthony Hopkins in the upcoming "Hitchcock," but from what we can see of Jones, he acquits himself well as Alfred Hitchcock.

HIFF Review: 'The Girl' Creates Dark Hitchcockian Mood, But At The Cost Of Virtually Everything Else

Like with the two competing Snow White movies earlier this year, Hollywood finds itself in the midst of battling Alfred Hitchcock pseudo-biographies this fall; each detailing the production of one of the master director's seminal films and his relationship with that film's comely leading lady. Timed for optimum Oscar impact, arriving in November is "Hitchcock," with Anthony Hopkins as the tumescent filmmaker and a story centered around the making of his touchstone horror classic "Psycho." And later this month HBO is airing "The Girl," starring Toby Jones and Sienna Miller as Hitchcock and ingénue Tippi Hedren, who the director provoked into starring in both "The Birds" and "Marnie."

While it seems the big and pieces for this one have been coming together forever, we're just glad Bennett Miller's "Foxcatcher" is still happening. And after lining up an impressive trio of bros in Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo, the film is now adding a talented actress into the mix.

Geez, Toby Jones can't catch a break can he. First he plays Truman Capote in "Infamous" only for Philip Seymour Hoffman to steal his thunder with "Capote," and now just as HBO's "The Girl" is set to debut in a few weeks with him in the role of Alfred Hithcock, Fox Searchlight makes a late game announcement that their own "Hitchcock" starring Anthony Hopkins in the lead will be headed into theaters this fall. Will he be overshadowed once again? Let's hope not because it looks like he's put together a fascinating turn.

TIFF Review: Nick Cassavetes' ‘Yellow’ Is Daring, Bold And Just What The Doctor Ordered

Officially the most refreshing breath of air at this year’s TIFF, Nick Cassavetes’ new feature ‘Yellow’, is a step into crazy terrritory, far from his recent romantic comedy fare and "Alpha Dog." Away from traditional ways of telling stories, and towards a different type of perspective, a very different type of view, as he admitted to in the Q&A. You can’t but feel almost like a child trying to talk or review this movie because of how infectiously zany it is; think "Young Adult" on Vicodin and acid. Leading lady Heather Wahiquist puts her all into a truly memorable leading performance, and no wonder; she co-wrote the screenplay with Cassavetes. But the winner has to be the imagination behind the trippiness.

Staring production way back in the fall of 2010, it has been a long time coming for Nick Cassavetes' drug drama "Yellow," but it's now headed to TIFF and a strong handful of images have arrived, though curiously, aside from Sienna Miller, not much is seen of the extended ensemble.

In the red corner! Four-time Academy Award nominee, one-time Academy Award Winner Anthony Hopkins! In the blue corner! You've seen him in everything from "The Hunger Games" to "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy," but you've never seen him like this... It's Toby Jones! Yes, the battle of the biopics is gearing up, and the favorite is certainly "Hitchcock," which sees Hopkins play the great director in a film set against the making of "Psycho." But while we wait to see if it'll make it to theaters in time for Oscars qualification, the underdog is sneaking up.

While it seems like we've been getting various peeks at "The Girl" for a while now, it appears that the movie about the movies is even closer than we thought, and of course to fan those flames, two more stills have dropped in advance of the enticing picture.

Toby Jones must get a little frustrated when he starts making a biopic. The chamelonic character actor got the role of a lifetime when he played Truman Capote in "Infamous" (giving a terrific performance in the process), but despite a starry cast including Sandra Bullock and Daniel Craig, had his thunder stolen when the film's release was delayed for nearly a year, allowing "Capote," starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, to sweep in with acclaim, and an Oscar victory.

It looks like Justin Long has been working his little book of phone numbers hard. The upcoming film "A Case Of You," which he co-wrote, has already lined up an impressive cast with Evan Rachel Wood, Peter Dinklage, Sam Rockwell, Vince Vaughn, Busy Phillips and Keir O'Donnell (who also co-wrote the script along with Justin's brother Chris, who is a co-producer) and now two more names have come along.
